So i tokk a break for awhile and now i'm back, I have a level 15 single blader with a free respec. So i was wondering about the patches since the halloween event. Is single blade better off, worse or the same and how does dual blade compare to single blade now?

How do they compare? Depends on what you're building for. Dual Blades has an AoE, so it tends to compare better against your standard content of 2 henchmen, 1 villain, since it can take out the henchmen WHILE dealing damage to the villain.
Single Blade compares better against 2 villain or 1 MV clusters due to the effectiveness of the Swallow Tail Cut advantage.
I think against Supers and above they're pretty much in the same ballpark.
Caveat: Melee is getting a major pass by the development team sometime in 2010, so that's probably when things will change the most for both sets.
Note to OP: Welcome back!

I've played both and in my opinion single blade is superior. The Aoe of dual just doesn't stack up to the overall damage output for single. Although dual blade was my first character and I was kinda clueless.

well in my trials i've noticed that single blades is weak. granted it will be superior in the 1on 1 aspect so i would just combine the 2 if you want single blade attacks. me personally i prefer duals and i usually take laser swrd for my single attack. once you get sword cyclone with the butcher blade advantage you're doing over 2k to anyone around you

Swallowtail aside, Dual Blade is a much better option, for my money.
It's not just the AoE, although that alone would put it up there IMO. It's the specials and advantages on the powers. Dual Blade's are a lot more useful, in my experience. Eye of the Storm alone...

Single Blade shreds supers with the energy builder and the other base attack (I can't remember the name).
Aside from the need for a root, the problem with single blade is if you take Lightning Reflexes as your slotted passive and have no AoE. That makes henchmen a huge problem. I enjoyed my Single Blade (in PvE) because I did a Single Blade/Fire combo.
