The player's Magnitude should be boosted to 2, so it doesn't just take 1 unconditional intangible hold to hold a player. Even back in the CoH days it was never like this...a player could always resist 1 hold from a controller by default. Currently the pvp game is very hold + practical one shot centric. This dynamic needs to change to introduce more skill into the environment. Being held within the 1st 3s of combat is not a good gameplay dynamic. While it's not uncounterable or unsurvivalable, it leads to a really bad dynamic. Basically, someone holds you, starts buffing/debuffing and hits you with alot of damage. Either you run away once you can break the hold, or you die.
Why boost player magnitude and not nerf unconditional intangible holds? Because people respond better to player buffs, and it doesn't really change the dynamic of PVE that much.

It's out of wack in pve too. I've had mobs chain holding me again. I was pretty sure this had been fixed months ago. It really seems like old code slipped back in.

This sound like a good change. Holds are currently too effective in PvE and PvP. I suspect it's unintentional, but in any event, an intentional change to allow players to more easily resist holds would be an improvement.

Holds are the only thing that give melee any kind of chance and are still easy to counter if you build for it. I really don't see a problem with them, compared to other things. Maybe electrocute having a damage threshold like the others. The root of the problem (no pun intended) is the amount of damage being thrown around.
EDIT: And yeah, something does seem to be borked with them in general right now, so I chalk that one up to a bug.

When the servers come back on, I'll try to pay more attention to mobs that hold me. There are some definite bugs out there right now.
I think it doesn't help that the bug to my nemesis missions has me playing a new character all week. But I've tried slipping in some of the higher level guys too. I just don't want to outlevel the nemesis mission they're on.
So like allllll this week I've faced mostly chain swinging enemies. It finally dawned on me last night, after going through a zillion How the West Side Was Won missions ... Black Aces, Cobra Lords, Purple Gang, Maniacs, Cobra Lords, AND Escaped Prisoners ALLLLLLLL have villains with Lash. No wonder that power was driving me batty.
So yeah, I'll try to look at holds more, heh. And then ... winter event goes live, new patch gets moved over ... and all the NEW bugs get put in.
Fun fun fun.
;)
