I have no played in a few months but I played at release and CO was reasonably smooth. I had to tweek a few settings but my frame rate would be consistently variable depending on how many people around me.
Now, however, the /showfps will say I am getting a constant 40-50 FPS however every few seconds it will shutter and drop to what feels like 10 fps (however the /showfps does not change much). I'v tried lowering in-game settings with no use. Also, all 4 of my CPU cores are hitting about 80% usage consistently (with only CO and Firefox running). All of this happens no matter where I am in-game including the powerhouse (where I would assume I would get the best performance with the new teleporter).
My general specs are:
Win 7 Pro 64-Bit
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 191.07
4 Gigs of RAM
Creative X-Fi Soundblaster card
More detailed DxDiag is upload here: DxDiag.txt

Im in the same boat as OP. Im on a Core i7 and when i left the game around 2 months ago i was able to run at 1920x1200 with everything maxed except shadow which was at medium at a steady 50-60 as a minimum. now its not possible anymore, ive tried reformat, ive tried driver updates. I just keep stuttering. After messing around abit i found that i could remove most of the stuttering(not all) by lowering AF from x16 to 0 and lights per object set to minimum but the fps would still be below 30 which is unplayable if you ask me.

the 191 series is junk and has caused countless problems on all systems.
The 195.5x drivers work for some folks though.
Also I'd run a virus scan just to be safe, 80% loading sounds a bit steep.

I did download the 195.62 drivers last night so I might give them a try. Little nervous about down grading drivers.

The 190.62 driver seems to be the one most folks have the best luck with.
The 195-6.x driver in the BETA section reportedly works better than the released one.

Bump for those of you who are sticking around through all this. Hope it gets worked out.
Upon release this was the only game I had graphical issues with. Not gonna go into it.. but the game had some serious issues that were never addressed while I was still around. Worked it out on my own, and I seemed to be a unique situation on the forums.
Things were "ok" after that, not what they should have been. But I come back after 2 months for the free weekend, log in, and was shocked to see graphics ramped up and it was holding about 50 fps. Good on cryptic!
wait... why do they drop to 5 fps every 7 seconds or so.... wtf. No offense meant honestly, but really cryptic? really? Your game isn't good enough to stick around and narrow this down to some random video tweak again. I'm a heavy gamer, addicted to buying games for the last 15 years. Your game has caused me more grief than any other, and that's saying something.

Your engine was NOT ready... pz
apologies for possible derail.. my sincerest good luck to you all!

Its a bandwith issue between the x-fi and gfx card Driver 186.18 will stop all that at a slight cost to fps.
I removed my x-fi and now use my onboard realtech sound and i can now use 195.35.I have the opinion that champions has to optimize the sound thers lots of glitches dropouts etc. and all that takes bandwith that can be used by the rather greedy nvidia drivers.
Jim:)

I'm with you on this. I have the "recommended" 190.62 driver on a 8800GT, 4 gigs of DDR3-1600, and a quad-core Phenom II.
I get ~30FPS in Millenium City with 10 second interval drops of 33% or more, displayed by the /showfps 1 command.
I can run Age of Conan at maximum of every setting and get ~50FPS, I don't understand why this game runs so poorly.

Update. I downgraded to the 190.62 drivers as suggested and that cleared my hitching right up.

I hope they get running on the new drivers, I hear they are noticably better on other games.
