# 1 Seriously latency problems in CO

I just got the trial and i am having some *serious* problems with the latency on the game server. My computer is pretty old but it runs the game at somewhat playable level with lowest settings. However the problem isnt the fps its the latency. I have around 115-200 on the server but it jumps up to 700+ every 2-3 sec.

Basically when im playing i walk a few steps forward and the server rubberband me a few steps back. Its very annoying.

The most weird thing however is that when i ping the server manually i have *no* latency and a SOLID 113ms latency. Im from sweden and i often play games in US and never have these problems. The ping is often around 100-130 with no issues. However in CO this seems to not be the case, at least when in the game. I was looking at the /netgraph and it was a mess with the spikes.

What i am wondering is if my computer, in this game, affects the ping/latency in this weird way? Like i said its an old computer: 2.5ghz(single core), 1.5gb ram, x1650 agp. It runs the game however, despite low fps around 10-15, nothing i am not used to these days however. The latency thing tho, that really gets to me.

Just wondering if there are some "issues" right now or something that would cause these problems im having?

AGP? OK but go into the video settings and turn off ambient occlusion. You will get a nice frame boost out of that.

As far as your lad is concerned, it could be a lot of things. Things that made a difference for me are getting rid of the wireless connection, getting a modem that was up to date, checking firewall settings, making sure I didn't blow my download limit and get penalized with 1/4th bandwidth and killing other game launchers and windows updates while I'm playing. You 1.5 GB of ram will also mean that your system will be pushed to the max dealing with the net connection and the game. Don't run it any higher than 1152x864.

Try: launch the launcher and log in. Go to options and choose proxy. Try using the EU or US setting. After that, I'm out of ideas. Good luck.

I am not in the game right now so i dont have the ip atm. I will log on in a minute and check the ip manually. What exactly does nettest do and how do you make sense of the numbers it shows?

Anyways, here is what it shows:

<edit> I got the ip from the game, not sure its the "right":

No firewall or antivirus that will interfere with games on this computer. Its a fiber(30mbit both ways) connection so no modem nor is it wireless.

Huldu

It looks like some of the ports are being filtered (the nettest) The game uses ports 7000- 7500
Where they are being filtered at could be any where from your PC to the servers ( modem ports, ISP, the isp routers, The back bone the ISP connects to etc.)

nm I see you are now using the proxy
