I played the closed and open beta for this game. I loved the game then I started playing it and after the nerf patch that started the nerf of Mini Mines and ect I stopped playing. ( Not becuase of the nerfing for some reason I starting lagging alot.) Have they fixxed alot of the problems since I was gone? Like the quest shortage?

some people say the quest shortage is still there, but it isnt really, there is however only 1 real path to 40 right now still(supposedely being fixed in the early 2010 patch)
but theyve added at least 50 new quests sinse launch, many are repeatable daily at that

you rarely see anyone complaining about not having enough to hit 40 now unless they seriously did something wrong

It's still a new game, there's still a shortage of content. There's more than there was at launch, so it's a step in the right direction.

That would qualify as a shortage of content to my mind. Has it been improved? Well, if you call doing every quest you can possibly find to reach 40 without grinding (including using 3rd party resources like CC 2.0) instead of simply running out at times an improvement, sure.

OP, the game is still really lacking in variety, and IMO, still has about enough content for the first 30 days.

Wait till 2010 if you simply have to play this MMO, you'll be playing a much better game if you are the type to believe the hype they spin.

I just hit level 35 and I haven't stepped foot in Lemuria aside from the Crisis and 3 missions because I just wanted to check it out.

There's plenty to do in Canada and Monster Island and even MC for mid-high level characters.

That's overstating it. They've added enough content now that you don't need to use third party resources and do every single mission to hit 40. That's how it was, for sure. But they've added bits and pieces to fill the gaps. Little band-aids of content.

I find myself capable of skipping quite a bit more than I ever could.

But overall, yeah, the game still needs a lot more content.

I find the game to be thin on content, but admittedly I've never set foot in Lemuria. Mostly for character concept reasons, and in part what I've heard from a technical standpoint. I PvP'd my way to 40 from 37 up. The difficulty of the game is too easy, and it makes the content feel flat and bland. I wouldn't mind fed ex missions, or 'go here, punch x amount of these guys' if the fights actually managed to pull me in.

What's sad is that the game looks very heroic with the animations, but the feel of the game is very straightforward and unfulfilling. Any half-way competent build will find no inherent sense of danger or risk in a large amount of content you pound your way through, leaving a very hollow aesthetic overall.

Teaming is still a time wasting endeavor, as again the difficulty rarely ever demands more than a single person. Two or more people is simply overkill for a large portion of the content.

People gripe and complain about the launch day nerf. In my opinion, -another- round of nerfs need to be handed out, or at least buffs to the NPCs, because it's boring sleepwalking through most of the game because you have to essentially choose to let yourself die. I pretty much could steamroll missions that were 4-5 levels higher than me, without much problem at all.

A difficulty increase will enrich the gameplay, and the quantity of content won't be so glaring because what's in the game now will have more meaning and fun built-in. But my level 40 finds UNITY missions to be a chore at best, because it's not like I'm ever going to die in there, so it's just a pain in the neck clearing out lairs.

There is a free weekend going on, you might as well hop back in and see :)

Although this reminds me of a comment from a friend of mine recently who tried the previous open weekend and is trying this open weekend.
"There's no reason to pay for this game, I can just see most of the content during the open weekends."
So there is definitely a lack of content still, esp. if you happen to concentrate a large chunk of time on a weekend to play it.

I had a tin foil hat moment a few days ago and wondered how much content was lost/unable to be salvaged because of MUO's demise. It's something to really consider, because my impressions were that MUO was pretty far along. There may have been a lot of Marvel-specific content that couldn't be adapted for CO.

My conspiracy theory was that Marvel could see that Cryptic's main focus would be Star Trek Online in the long run, and didn't want the (potentially) one shot that had at a Marvel MMO to be the second-hand effort of a relatively still small gaming company. I think people would be doubly upset with this game if it was MUO with the same amount of content as it has right now. Because I swear, I see hardly -any- correlation from the Champions P&P system to this game's.

I didn't even know Champion's was a P&P game, I thought it was just something Cryptic made up after Marvel / Microsoft had their falling out. I can't say I'm a huge follower of American comic books though, so maybe that's why I didn't know about it.

It was late 2007 (?) I think when they cut ties with each other, so you'd think they would have had time to adopt more content into the game. Guess it depends on when they started development for MUO and how far along the game engine was back in late 2007 (my assumption is it wasn't very far along which is why they didn't have time to work on content).

Not like it was Cryptic's fault (at least that's what news sources were reporting), MS and Marvel had the licensing issue, and we all know how bad MS can be trying to control everything and Marvel was in the middle of trying to get all their licenses back (esp. for making movies).

Putting on my tin foil hat for a second, I do wonder if the delay on the Xbox 360 for CO is also partly due to the initial falling out between companies, not just the 360 online issue. From a bystanders point of view it looked like MS just left Cryptic hanging with a partially completed game when Atari came along and scooped it up. Not to mention you wonder if Cryptic sold CoH to NCSoft to keep treading water while they developed CO after being left without a publisher.

When you look at it that way, MS wins because now they get a new game on their console that they probably didn't have to pay full development cost for, while Cryptic is sitting there going "now we have to deal with those guys that left us in the middle of a project???". Makes you wonder.
