hey cryptic!

i'll get right to the point, whilst i know you guys prefer to focus your mojo on the pve side of things pvp is getting kinda crazy, everyone has figured out that knockback resistance is rubbish and whole teams are made up of Shadow embrace/lash spammers!

even on my melee toon whos stacking masses of strength (can throw tanks!) i still may aswell sit back and watch my char bouce around in the shadowy mush of Fatal Allure.

please improve KB resistance! ty!

I just wrote a thread on this issue in the suggestions forum. Please give it a look and if you agree or would like to elaborate, show some support. The KB issue is ridiculous in PvE AND PvP. The thread has a lot of numbers and ideas on how to handle KB with some finesse while maintaining the strategic use of KB as a valid tactic. It would turn skills that cause KB spam into Direct Damage skills after too much KB has occured. It would also provide a way for more accesible defenses to KB resist.

I mainly play PvE and use only a little knockback, but I too would like to see KB resistance leveled out and become more consistant. Possibly just lower the KB effects of ALL powers across the board insted of trying to tweek how KB resistance works?

Baseline nerfs wouldn't even solve anything, since they wouldn't add any type of dynamic to gameplay.

The problem is with how you either get knocked back or you don't. There needs to be some type of dynamic scaling, otherwise we may as well just get rid of it and play a game with only damage and healing.

For that matter, hold resistance is rubbish too. I have a character who maximizes 3 stats: str, ego, and dex and is a gimptastic unarmed martial arts character. With both str and ego high, the character should be okay against any type of hold, right? But I don't notice any difference at all between this character and my others who don't raise str or ego at all.

This is pve-wise, by the way. It is not a pvp character.

I was toying with the concept that if KB across the board had a lower rate of working (meaning it triggers less) as an effect then the level of existing KB resist may work better ingame to mitigate it. KB was too large of a part of the PnP game to just completely trash.

I too have noticed that hold resist doesn't work hardly at all.

I'm aware.

I'm saying if you reduce the rate of working, as in it triggers less, then it looses it's tactical purpose and becomes a "oh, I really wish that KB was working, so I'm going to spam this skill until it does" instead of "Hey, this situation is going on in battle, and a KB would give me a tactical advantage right now".

As soon as you lower the chance of success across the board, in essence, the skills become nothing more than Direct Damage skills that sometimes knockback. If you're not going to get a knockback, you'd probably just be better off doing more damage and having the person dead, no?

As a force caster who has knockback on almost every power I can say that knockback is one of the most unbalanced things for pvp. I just find someone who has low resistance and can basicaly keep them on the ground till they die. I can just imagine how annoying that can be. But if that would get nerfed I would definiteley expect something in return since a force caster wihout knockback would be so underpowered.
