Anyway, population fluctuation happens to all MMOs as people figure out what the target audience is, and whether a game is or isn't for them. It's also funny how MC had about 18 instances (quite a bit more than 4!) when I was logged in last (yesterday).
Have we seen a drastic population drop since yesterday? Got m'doubts!

The market for Champions Online is not:
1. Hard core raiders who like weekly 3 hour instances.
2. People who like a strong classed character system.
3. People who do not like instances.
4. People who want travel to feel epic and take up a significant portion of their time running from one place to another.
5. People who have been raised in MMOs using FAQs, data mining eqiupment DBs, walkthroughs, etc..

3 have 100
1 has 75
the other 32 have about 35.
I consolidated the 3 (300) + the 75 one and the 35 one (105), and then took 31 x 35 to get (1085).
Simple math time!
The sum of (300 + 105 + 1085) = 1490
Pretty much the same as last week....oh, and the week before.

@Kruunch
Hey, lighten up, big guy! There'll be others! Plenty of 'em. Especially when the first major content patch rolls around, we might see a few old faces make a reappearance then, too!
@siliconsmiley
Indeed, it's also for roleplayers and people who enjoy strong character concepts, as a lot of fun in Champions Online is what you bring with you, by means of your imagination. The game's veritably a playground.
And these bits of wisdom will become widely known soon enough, those who like it will flock to Champions and those who prefer the other entries of your list will go to other games more suited to them. Even those who'd slam Champions I want to be happy, it's just that not every game is for every person.
The population will even out once Champions Online gets out of the identity crisis that surrounds every MMO at launch.
@Dark_Larva
Pretty much! I can't say I'm surprised.
