# 1 Ice Slide must Change!

Ice Slide has got to change. I'm the type of guy who likes to try out most everything in a game like this. I've given most of the power sets a try (though not experimented with hybrid builds much) and have tried every travel power available.

I have learned this...Ice Slide is a waste.

It is a travel power that does NOT like to let you travel.

BUT, and this is a big one mind you, I will not say that the power as a whole is broken. The speed is fine and the maneuverability is about what I'd expect for a giant chunk of ice. The problem lies in the fact that it does NOT under ANY circumstances want to allow you to remain in the air. I tried ice slide, even tested it out in the powerhouse to see how it handled and I could not for the life of me climb higher without losing all speed and ability to change directions. Even then it decided to nearly plummet after I reached ANY height after fighting me so strongly to reach it.

I propose this one, rather simple I should think, change to the power: Remove the falling effect PROVIDED the person using the power is still moving forward (backwards would probably work too but I wouldn't object if moving backwards made you descend). I understand the logistics of ice SLIDE not letting you hover, as you are just moving via a sort of ice "road" that allows you temporary movement through space.

I suppose that, whenever I think of this power, I think of Iceman...and that fact that he could just keep on moving with that ice slide of his without plowing into the ground every 10 seconds.

So...in summary, it needs to change...the power is roughly 95% fine...but it just needs to let you get in the air and STAY in the air so long as you're still moving. Let me descend if I stay still, but I don't wanna have to keep spacebar held down all the time just to keep myself ten feet off the ground.

Maybe there are people who think it's fine as it is but...I've talked about it in-game with some other folks (just random folks in zone chat, mind you) and the general consensus (sp?) seems to be that Ice Slide needs some tweaking.

I agree, no falling while moving forward. Leave everything else as is.

...so say we all?

Yeah, it's not much of travel power atm. It pretty cool from a visual and conceptual perspective but it's useless and impractical compared to the other powers. The maneuverability is horrible and maintaining it in mid air is a pain in the ass. Fix it and rename it to Ice Flight. Which it should have been in the first place.

I like the falling, it adds dynamism. As for keeping stable, if you hold jump, you will rise. hold jump while aiming upwards on the mouse and you rise faster. You rise faster when not moving forward, and alternating between rising and moving forward is faster than doing both at once. If all you want to do is coast form point A to B at a stable altitude, aim the mouse about 45-60 degrees upwards, so you're looking at the sky. This causes your forward (upward) movement to counteract the natural fall. You can then look around wiht rightclick if you'd like.

I'm sorry, but any flight power that requires that whole paragraph of explanation in order to use it properly needs some tweaking. It NEEDS to change...I'm usually pretty lax when it comes to "okay, this isn't perfect but it works well enough" type of things...but I can see that this is something that needs to be done, hopefully as soon as possible (barring any emergencies requiring cryptic's immediate attention).

It's not a flight power, it's a slide power.

then please explane to me why it:

A) allows the user to rise up off the ground beyond that of a jump.

B) is called flight in it's own god damn description.

on another note. it's maneuverability is laughable. "slightly less" than normal flight my arse!

Ice Slide is fine. Point slightly upwards... hold forwards. Re-adjust camera as nessesary.

WARNING: Indoor use not recommended.
