crippling coils is probably the worst hold in the game right now (even worse than sleep, imo). It's short duration, breaks on nearly any damage (maybe not your energy builder), and isn't actually all that strong (I haven't managed to hold a master villain with it). Sleep is another one to avoid because it breaks on any damage. Pretty much everything else works, although for different purposes.

Right now I'm playing with Electrocute, part of me is wondering if its advantage requires the hold to 'stick' or if it simply piggybacks on the power. The first makes it meh for anything it can't hold, the second seems like it'd be neat to play around with on SVs and such.

Soul mez.
Tap stun is handy and confusing villains to make them turn and kill their minions is pure funsies :) and the aoe proc can lock down a ton of mobs some times. Granted my pets start breaking the hold pretty soon but timing sometimes helps.
Also I open up with confuse and then tap stun on a nearby mob. Stun and confuse immunity are two different things.
Also it is a 100' CC....nice snipe hold. I am always in Sentinel and plan on ranking it to 2 along with the adv which I have now. The duration should be decent then and I never stack CC's for perma hold anyway. I usually just use it when needed to mitigate damage until I get my pets out, set up collective will, heal and/or set up chain knockups with shadow embrace.
