Ok....lets start with a background.

I could bore you with a list of games, both PnP and MMORPG that I've played throughout the years, but honestly, why bother? I'm not here to stroke my e-pen, but hopefully to present valid points as to why I am so discontent with the current state of things.

I was EXTREMELY excited when I heard about this game, I have even been following it's progress for what seems like years now...when I finally got my closed Beta key, man, I thought this was finally a mmo I wanted to sink some time into and enjoy it for the long term.

Why? Well, character creation was simply amazing to start with, some of the best parts of COH/COV . All the power customization (power point of origin and color) seeemed groundbreaking at the time.

When attempting to start playing, the actual controls seemed really fairly easy to grasp (though in all fairness, i prefer playing with the Xbox 360 controller).

And your solo character can take on HORDES of enemies.........by yourself......even higher level ones if you were smart and/or built your power frame well. FINALLY a game that you can solo and have fun defeating groups like your superhero of choice can.

And so Beta was a incredible blast, with me constantly spamming every friend/family member and coworker with how awesome the game is, you have to try it. Most that did during that beta thought the same as I : Finally a game that shines in its differences to other games, rather than pander to the cookie cutter build most gaming companies seem to attempt in a horrible imitatation of the beast that is WoW.

Like a love struck fool, i purchased the 6 month subscription and was seriously considering the lifetime sub....thats how much I enjoyed the game in beta.

Then beta ended, and like many marrages, the honeymoon was over.

Right off the bat, a huge passive defenses nerf. Because "people" (who were they again?) complained that the game way too easy. Ok, maybe a little tweaking may have been acceptable, but you made a significant change to passive defenses .....for the worse. Seriously, if you compare the "phantom" people who complained it was too easy vesres the MASSES of people upset by you making it a GREAT deal harder to even survive the basic henchemen.....ok, so strike one, just tried to live with it.

Suddenly the image of the un-cookie cutter game is getting a little more frayed at the edges.

Over the course of going Live to the present, I have slowly watched the things I enjoyed about this game slowly die and another "forced to party to play at higher levels mmo" is born. The last patch, pretty much did it for me. Now my characters struggle with a basic villian and 2 henchmen where I used to still handle my own and a few adds (though it could still be close), but I felt no fear of a smaller basic group. Now all passive defenses are nerfed. Most active defenses, nerfed. Regeneration (including ego sprites), Nerfed. Most of the cool powerframe big (higher tier) skills nerfed and no longer worth it. Teleportation, the buggiest of the transpotation skills, nerfed further. (anyone who has teleportation for several levels knows what I mean).

Its like in a effort to "balance" everything, they are stripping out everything unique from the game, everything that made it FUN, that had people during beta counting down to the next beta test day. With solo survivability reduced by leaps and bounds, now they have changed it into exactly what thet said it would never be: another failed wow clone. Another dirge for the solo gamer or people that like small groups, things they promised to keep in mind, even in the end game. Oh, they kept us in mind, and figured that we would still love the game enough to keep playing on the false hope the lie they sold us on would return.

Truthfully, I wouldn't feel so much rage, if I didn't feel so misled. The game I played and the game I bought are totally different : I test drove and thought I purchased a Bugatti and somehow ended up driving off in a Yugo.

Worse, deep down, a part of me really DOES want to believe they will return to what made this game great to begin with, but honestly I just don't see it happening. NONE of thier comments in response to the angry posts show any remorse, understanding or desire to rectify any of the issues.

Too bad it took $115 dollars to learn that this company cares about its subscribers as much as a used car salesman does: They'll promise you everything to seal the deal and then do anything to undercut what you "thought" you were purchasing to maximize their profits.

Sad that one of my favorite PnP games would have a mmo by a company that shows so little understanding of it's player base overall.

When you look forward more to arguing with the trolls on the forums than logging into the game, something is wrong with the game.

Why even bother posting something you know isn't true?

thanks for that long post, even though it was a waste cause nobody really cares, once this bug is fixed I'll be happily back to beating up baddies.

I've found this to be untrue. The best games bring out the best trolls.

finally there was a game that I could solo group content, because I was a badass super hero.

Doesn't matter that I was way over powered and shouldn't have been able to do it and that it was fixed for a reason ... I should still be able to do it!

You know ... Superman never had any challenges he had to over come either. He is a god .. walking among mere mortals. Which is what I want to be!

I want to press one button and level hordes of enemies and look super cool doing it! I don't want to be forced to think or strategize. This is a super hero game! Not Risk or Stratigo!
