Does anyone else have the issue where you'll go to lift something by holding z, it will look like the char is lifting it but then nothing happens? Sometimes I'll need to hold z 2 or 3 times before my character will actually lift the item...

It's not 'bugged' per say, but:
1) The amount of your STR stat determines what you can lift/throw - so if it's too much for you , you'll get aan animation of you trying, but the 'charge bar' won't fill up completely, meaning it's too much for your character to lift. This game doesn't give you atext message it's too much, it just doesn't allow you to pick the object up if that's the case.
2) As the animation plays sometimes it moves your character avatar to where it's just out of lift range, so the 'lift' fails (that's a bug).

I've had the same issue, Tasty, and bugged it in-game.
They are weights that my Main can pick up easily, but for some reason, without being interrupted by mobs or movement, it cuts two-thirds away, and my toon begins the lifting animation.
Of course, what he's lifting doesn't come with him.
Repeating the pick-up a second time results in a successful lift.
Tasty, if you're still reading this, I'm curious. Are your control options for your energy builder set to 'Always; Never cancel'?
I'm trying to mess around with variables to reproduce this so I can be more helpful to the devs in fixing this issue, so please let me know if this is a behavior with that setting or not.

I've had the same issue. Often when I try to lift something it will go through the animation, but then the object won't be picked up when it's done. But then it will always work when I try the same object a second time.

Same here, always for the heaviest objects my Character can lift. Sometimes it will look like its lifting, but I need to lift a second time for it to actually work.
That being said, the ability to throw portions of your environment at enemies is definitely a blast!

There also seem to be some collision issues. If the game thinks you're standing on the object, it appears to let you lift it, but then fails. This is mostly noticable w/rubble, plywood, and like that.
Lifting can also be interrupted by taking damage, but sometimes the anim seems to keep playing as if you were successful.

When I go to lift big stuff i have to try 3 or four times. the animation plays but nothing happens. Some times I get shifted to an new position and the lift still fails.
