Let me count the ways..
1. melee energy builders are at an inherent disadvantage when compared to ranged builders. They both grant roughly the SAME energy yet advantage of being ranged is 1000X better as you are not only less effected by the EXTREME movement in this game but you can also build energy from a safe distance drawing much less attention none the less. Melee builders need to either A. Do SIGNIFICANTLY more damage or B. generate 10 times the energy of ranged builders to compensate for the above mentioned reasons.
2. Melee charged abilities only have a 7 yard range AND do no more damage then ranged to boot. I love it great balance there. Dont know how many times I've aparrently HIT a target only to loose energy and do no damage. Pure melee at this junction have a DISTINCT disadvantage that is glaringly obvious yet the devs consider it fine..
Now on to the MIGHT powerset.
Defiance outright sucks compared to regen and invulnerability. I've had stacks fall off for no reason at all, I've had MANY instances where I don't get ANY stacks when I'm obviously getting wailed on. This is ability is broken and not preforming any where close to par.
Strength does absolutely jack for me. I've seen players with retaliation with half of my inherent strength hit harder. Strength needs to be able to significantly increase my damage as a superstat AND serve a purpose at negating damage absorbed from blocking.
There are no inherent holds in the might set... why? Not to mention that alot of the holds in the other sets require tons of energy that is not readily accessible to might characters. Sure I can take a hold but I then have to spend an eternity building up the energy to hit them,which involves closing the gap and clobbering for 10 seconds to get off 3 taps of haymaker that do **** poor damage. Hell it's not uncommon to see half my damage mitigated on a single strike.
I give up cryptic you guys have killed my enthusiasm for the melee powersets. I guess I'll have to be a ranged teleporting tazer arrow *** to get my kills in.

lol......I did.......and now I have a worthless martial artist.....
so I wasted that free respec thinking I could pull it off with a dual blade/martial arts/Ice hero.....seemed OK in the powerhous (lol..) ....you know , get a shield...ranged AoE.....It'll be fine then huh? ......those with Focus of Unleashed Tempest will make me cool cool choppin ***** !!

my melee toons are built entirely for pve
for pvp i pick whatever fotm op powers there are so i can hear people cry about it - as they teleport away.
