Yep before you all flame me as one, I'll just admit it. I love the game and I love being a superhero. Travel powers may be the most fun thing in this game. Now that's it out of the way.....
While I appreciate the post from Lucid on the state of PvP and that "we are working feverishly" comment, the PvP in this game is lacking a lot of things, including the "fun" factor.
I sometimes hate reading these boards because it seems like a lot of complaining with no suggestions on how to fix it. I played in a few matches of the Hero Games yesterday though, and as much as I hate it, I can confirm all the complaints I've read about. Let me see if this sounds familiar to anyone.
I find a guy who's health actually goes down when I hit them and start trying to dps and cc him, hoping and praying that some other soul will realize he's squishy and help me get him down. While this is happening I keep getting tazered and no matter how many times I mash the keyboard, the hold on me goes up and down and up again with seemingly no rhyme or reason. When I finally get out of the hold, I commence chasing down this dude and hammering him again. Now just when I have him at around 1% health, he TP's out and up top to heal. Now before I can get to him, he is now at full health and we start the 5 minutes process all over again. Meanwhile, the other team has figured out that we have a gimp on our team and has him on farm status, killing him 15 times and winning the match. Sound familiar?
I guess I'm just asking for more fun. Aside from the power balance issue which gets everyone up in arms about the difference between PvP and PvE and how they affect each other. I believe there are a few things they could do to make it a little more interesting.
-lock the doors: How about in true UT(F)C style if you step into that ring you stay in the ring. Run out and you die or the other team gets a point. Sorry, but the only time I see anyone patching up during cage matches is between rounds. If you can't take the heat, don't come in the kitchen.
-Give us a few more energy draining powers. It would be hard for that guy to spam that OP power if he has no more little blue bar. Make us be a little more selective about what we use and how we use it.
-Raise the damage we do. You guys may disagree with this one, but I feel like our damage is balanced for PvE, where mobs don't have very much health. I can one shot mobs, but just plink away at players. Raise the mobs health, and raise our damage. At least the rounds will go quicker.
I'm not claiming to know anything about game mechanics, but I would like to give my two cents. Keep working guys. You have a lot of raw potential here and I'm rooting for this game.

I agree our damage needs to be buffed for PvP but we don't have to touch PvE to do it. Just make the arenas grant a 50% damage buff to all characters and things will work out great.

I actually like your suggestion about more energy denial skills. Guild Wars mesmer anybody? <3 Let's face it. Sometimes it's super fun to be the person that makes the other person's build not work :P

It does seem like PvP has become a game of "find the guy without Regeneration and Teleport."

Teleport is just as abusable as it has always been. It's just becoming more apparent as the other crazy stuff gets toned down.

I fully support +150% damage increase in the arenas for everyone.
ahahahahah impliment that and ya'll gonna be butt hurt when I one shot ya with triple build-up + crybaby damage boost.
here's a suggestion for ya......GET A TEAM AND WORK WITH THEM. Stop thinking your pathetic pug is gonna take down a PvPSG.

i don't think a dmage increase is needed yet...but some fine tuning. nothing said about resistance gear and consumables...that might have helped a great deal in resisting the spam cc....
any good pvp game i've played i get worked over like a two dollar ***** on pay day at first...EVERYTIME by the fotm. however there is always a way to beat or "paper, rock, scissors" them and we do have lotsof alts.
i think what is needed is time...it may very well be that there are ways to deal with the fotm (maybe with the exception of tp..but it's one of the coolest tp) that people arn't finding yet...and those that are probably keeping a bit tight lipped at first

Well before this turns into fingerpointing and hostility, I want to clarify:
I'm not complaining because I die. I'm complaining that the PvP environment in this game leaves a lot to be desired.
Thank you for all the L2P comments, but if what I need to do to "L2P" is take all the best powers and get on some premade awesome team full of guys with all the same "best" powers, then thank you but no. To be honest, I don't want to teleport, and I don't want to go Ice.
There will always be players who will try to use the game mechanics to their advantage. Especially in PvP. I'm not trying to beat them. I am however trying to have fun.
Give me fun. Please. Or pie.

I tend to be the gimped guy at the start of matches because pretty much all of my alts are concepts and I don't think I use TP for any of them in PvP. Nor do I use mini-mines or condemn at all. Usually I die 3 or 4 times pretty quickly, but by the end of the match I've usually acquired 6-8 kills. It's not about the powers, it's about adapting to the situation and adjusting your tactics.
