Hey, gang. :)
Liking the game so far, but I sure do miss the layout of the CoX forums. Trying to find build tips with all the stuff mashed into this one section is a headache. LOL
So...once the headache subsides I usually end up more confused about how to build my toons and end up rerolling them multiple times like my PA toon so I'm just gonna ask:
Is there a Sorcery Build that works for both solo and group play right now? Or it pretty much the equivalent of a CoH Empathy Defender? I'm really not that pressed about staying pure but, of the hybrid builds that I read over that DID work, others are saying will be nerfed soon. Any advice? Thx in advance!

This is my build at 19. Solos fine, went ok in a group but there's no real group content yet.. Will flesh it out at higher levels with more group abilities. Plan on staying pure sorcery except for maybe ball lightning or firesnake

: Level 40 Champion
Superstats:
Level 5: Super Intelligence
Level 13: Super Presence
Powers:
Level 1: Eldritch Bolts
Level 1: Eldritch Blast -- Sorceror's Whim
Level 5: Binding Of Aratron
Level 5: Superspeed
Level 8: Aura Of Radiant Protection
Level 11: Invocation Of Storm Calling -- Electrical Storm
Level 14: Arcane Vitality
Level 17: Circle Of Arcane Summoning -- Rank 2
Talents:
Level 1: Arcanus
Level 6: Diplomatic
Level 9: Healthy Mind
Level 12: Shrug It Off
Level 15: Command Training
Level 18: Investigator
Level 5-11 was a bit slower than some offensive characters since I focused on single hold & burn rather than AoE but it picks up at 11 with an AoE (though if you're not concerned with staying pure better AoE exists out of set). Once I got the heal at 14 I switched to support spec full time and it became a lot harder to put me down thanks to higher heals.
The pet at 17 is personal preference, he's not great but I like him.
One big tip I feel is don't take the hold advantage on the energy builder, it's weaker than bindings but still triggers hold immunity messing your timings up.

I started off wanting a Sorcery-based character...but quickly realized how frustrating it would be to play such a character. I'm not sayin' it can't be done. I'm sure there's plenty of brave souls out there who push their Sorcery-focused builds to work through sheer force of will.
But bottomline: Sorcery is not an easy framework to use as a foundation for one's powers. Not for PvP, not for PvE, not for Solo, not for Group, not for anything.
Don't get me wrong. I like Sorcery. But currently, only for "Flavor" -- not for any real practical reason.
My "bread-and-butter" powers are from other frameworks. At level 32 now, I just recently started pickin' up Sorcery Powers for the graphical "look" and "feel" that I want my character to have.
But if you want to Solo with primarily just Sorcery Powers, be prepared to kill stuff slowly and methodically...while you observe from the corner of your eye everybody else massacring 2x or 3x the number of baddies in a fraction of the time. And if you want to Group with primarily just Sorcery Powers, be prepared to be defined by only 2 Powers out of your entire Framework...your Aura and your Heal. And if your team-members are lazy, maybe they'll like the idea of you wasting a power point on a Rez so they can save the 15 seconds of travel time it takes to get back from the revive point. Nobody will really care about anything else your so-called "utility" character has to offer. Forget about your Circles, Holds, Sigils, and all the things that feel "Sorcerific". In a Group, things are moving way too fast and crazy to really make much use out of that stuff. At least, in the little experience I have with Grouping.
And I openly admit, that at level 32 I've only been able to experience a few 5-Man Lairs. So please understand that I could be completely and utterly incorrect about how Sorcery skills are utilized at level 40.
But so far, all I can say is that I have the deepest respect for the Sorcery purists out there. It takes a lot of guts and determination to "stay the course" given Sorcery's limitations. As for me, I will continue to simply pick and choose a few Sorcery Powers here and there so that my character looks "neat" while dipping elsewhere for the meaty stuff.
Once the Powers-That-Be fix Sorcery, I will hop on the Respec bandwagon of Sorcery Joy just like alot of other people are probably hoping to do someday. Until that day comes, all I can recommend is to mix and match from other Frameworks and color all your Power aura's purple to give it that eldritch-type look, haha.

The only thing to stay away from are the controllable pets. They end up having to be summoned constantly, but don't provide the output of the summon every battle pets like the circles or zombies. To be more clear the pets rarely go through doors and will fall behind and desummon just running from one spawn to another right next to each other.
Otherwise all of the powers work well, they do decent damage, but nothing excessive. The greatest strength of the set is that it has no were to go but up.

Wow, I didnt think we had it THAT poorly. Just charge eldritch blast one mob, then binding of arathorn and blast the other one to death.

Thanks for the replies, gang. :)
With the patch almost rolled out, do any of you forsee an improvement to the framework? Are there powers you would go for, drop or use differently now?
