Current the game's targeting mechanic favors little crappy pets, ice cages, and sigils over actual enemies and other players. This is very obvious in PvP when using the "Target Nearest Enemy" command.
I wiill have a melee person pounding on me. I hit the target nearest button. I get a sigil 20 feet away.
A person is in trouble. I hit target friend, I get his munition bot. I hit it 3 or 4 more times and I get nothing but pets and sigils. Eventually I get fed up and have to make an attempt to click on a moving target just to cast my heal.
Have you ever tried to cycle targets while in an ice cage? ends up every other switch is the same ice cage over and over again. Now I can understand pets being part of the cycle, but when the system is constantly choosing pets over obvious players who are closer, there is something wrong.

Yeah, I have the same gripe. Would it be hard for the programmers to put in a toggle option of some kind?

This is very annoying when you're trying to just use your keyboard in PVP and you have a great chance to kill someone or you need to defend against someone very quickly and all you can get are those rascally pets as targets.

there's about 10 options for targeting and priority.. however no idea which ones you'd have to swap to what to make it less of a pain.. I have heard turning off the "target threating enemy's first" option helps

I followed this uTube video on how to setup targeting and it is exceptional. Like the guy in the video said I don't know how I could live without it setup this way!
