# 1 samurai costume
09-03-2009, 05:16 AM
what am I missing? or did they really include only about 1/2 of the pieces needed for a full Samurai costume? I found the helmet, face plate, belt, leggings. but not seeing any body armor, boots, gloves.

are the other pieces:

- under an odd category? though I spent quite a bit of time looking, I may have missed something

- unlockable? a bit of an odd approach to give you half a costume upfront and then have to unlock the rest of it

- not there? this would be rather inexcusable. who is going to want to build a themed costume missing several major pieces that really make that costume what it is?

believe I have seen some other people suggest this but I will add my voice to the request - please set up a pull down list of themed costume sets: pirate, cowboy, samurai, specials (like the life time sub), etc. even if you don't want all the pieces, it would be so much easier to start there and modify instead of having to hunt all over for pieces meant to be together.

I was thinking the same. I think they did the exact same with the knight costume.

You could use the ninja bracers. I haven't really tried to make a samurai though I saw one or two.

Make sure you set the gloves to the short ones so you can select Bracers under the Chest tab. There are more options there for hands.

Actually, everything is there for a Knight Costume. One of my guys had the whole set of armor on. (They just really need to make the full set for the Spike Knight Boots.

Actually, the Knight costume is in there in all it's glory (minus the traditional cape w/ Breastplate which is annoying)

Medieval Helm/Spartan Helm (both work equally enough (Half Helms, works best with Feather Plume addition)
Knight's Armor (under chest wear)
Knight's Pauldrons (obviously shoulders)
Armor Plate (full gloves)
Knight's Subligar (Hip Wear)
Knight's Leg gaurds (Leg accessories)
Knight's Boots (duh.., but can be substituted with the Spiked Boots, at least I think that's the name)

Set both chest/leg portions to chain mail and go with a light/dark gray color combo for best effect

You can also use the Bolted Armor for arm accessories if you feel the arms are lacking.

I whipped up a pretty nice looking Knight-like toon in about 4 minutes flat, and it is very convincing...it just needs a ******n cape, and a hip-worn sheath for his blade (could be an attachment for the subligar in a later patch)

Hmm...maybe I should come up with a costume-concept/help thread /ponders

As for Samurai armor, I could probably come close, with some makeshift pieces and clever coloring/sizing, but without authentic pieces, it will still come off as a "Close but not it" look, and being the stickler I am for awesome looking costumes, I just couldn't let that slide.

Cryptic, sometime down the line, get too it! For the sake of great justice!

so it sounds like the Samurai armor set is not complete, which makes what is there useless for me :( because like you CrossA, close isn't really good enough when it comes to this armor set. Samurai armor is very distinctive, which is its appeal for me.

which makes me wonder what they were thinking. why would they put in some of the pieces but not make a complete set? has anyone seen any indication from the developers to indicate that they know there are gaps like this and have plans to fill them? I am sure they plan to add more to the costume creator in the future but would suggest they add signature sets like Knight or Samurai armor in their entirety. so good job with the Knight armor, not so good with the Samurai

Right now, best advice I have for you, is go with the "wandering monk" look till the samurai armor has more parts. It looks cool, and can be mixed with some samurai armor parts to great effect.

That was after about 2 min in the creator. If I find a better look, I'll be sure to post with full specs on it (maybe even a SS if I feel like it, but don't count on it)

I had the same issue, but my concept was mystical, so I used the ancient tech chest piece and the arcane gloves and boots. I like the gloves and boots but would still prefer a more traditional chest piece.

Because they want your money?

The Epic Samurai set has all the pieces the OP is looking for at the low price of 380 Cryptic Points.
