Interesting. I have pretty much the same specs as you except a worse processor, half the ram, and slightly worse 9800 GT graphics. I average around 25-30FPS with above recommended settings.
Go figure. Maybe it's time to clean up software on the computer....
EDIT: my mistake. a quarter of the ram (2GB) and the processor is a core 2 dual 2.6 gHz

But i pose another question-- That is, how can you take an engine thats 4ish years old (CO runs off a modified CoH engine people) and....make it WORSE? Seriously.. how in the F can you do that? CoH runs perfectly fine.. So you added a few new effects, and turned it into COMPLETE garbage? That takes talent in and of its own :/ Champions Offline imo. fail. |

So by saying this everything is being done by the computer and not the graphics card. All I know is that I can play other games fine with my Quadro FX570M (I know it's not top of the line), but I could play CoH and L4D just fine. |

regardless of you having 4 cores they still run at 2.6 which is a bit slow. my 4 year old dual-core runs at 3.2 per core.
there is a common misconception out there that more is better as a rule - but that all depends on how much you multitask or if a game makes use of multicore properly (vast majority don't).
just a thought.
I have 2 gig of RAM, running a NVIDIA 8800 GT card and the fps is at ~ 14-20 on recommended settings, not too much difference when I up it to max video settings, and it only gets to 18-24 fps when I put it on the lowest settings. Would it be worth my money to upgrade my RAM? Or should I just wait a while and see what Cryptic does? I can run Empire Total War just fine when everything is just about maxed out (Anti Aliasing is at 8x!)
Thanks,

I have been excited about this game since it was announced. I didn't get invited to the closed beta and was ok with it. I wasn't sent an open beta key and still didn't feel slighted. I went to gamestop and pre-ordered the game to get the early start. After creating a character, I start playing with recommended settings and immediately I get slowdown. I change the resolution to 800x600 and put the graphics settings to its lowest and still 8-10fps. I check the forums and notice that it is the most talked about problem, which has not been addressed or put on the forefront of the to patch list. On launch day i checked the patch notes to see if anything had been fixed or a good faith promise that it would be fixed soon, no dice. I went to gamestop to pick up my copy and immediately returned it for a full refund. I would rather play it 6 months from now than play it in this state. Also, offering a beta invite for Star Trek Online to lifers is highly suspect. Do you not have faith in the longevity of your game? Or are you just ready for this game to fail so you can focus on your franchise cash cow? I know that's bitter but I wanted to play this so bad and I was let down so greatly. I'll keep checking in to see if anything is fixed.

It really is a joke at the moment.. Nothing has been said to us about the FPS issues.
It seems everyone has higher than necessary specs and I put my settings onto MINIMAL and sitll 20 fps?....
It's bad and going to kill the game before it starts for alot of people.
