Two things...
1) The Tutorial is great. I loved it. For the first time around.
2) Everyone is going to create ALT characters. It's one of the biggest things of CoH; making a million different alts. With that said- the tutorial becomes very dull, and sometimes boring. Every other character I make, I can get back in it and have fun- but some of the quests become extremely boring and make the tutorial repetitive.
No travel power is fine for the first time.
But when rolling your alt, it's dreadful not having a travel power.
The boss battle is tough the first time around.
But after that- it's pathetically easy, and all you can think is "Man, that COULD have been so much more fun if it wasnt so easy."
My suggestions:
Easiest) Skip tutorial?
Good Idea) Make a second optional "Veteran Tutorial" which is more difficult (at least the Boss Battle and Open Quest), and doesn't have the repetitive level 1 quests "Learn to Move." "Learn to block." "Learn to fight." "You're now level 2!"
Best Idea) Add several different tutorials. They could be smaller, shorter, with less quests if you have to. What matters less is the quality of them- and more the fact it's something different. It could be as small a change as a different zone with the exact same quests, monsters, and npcs. As different as night instead of day- or instead of INSECTS, zombies.
One small change would make it fun.
Different enemy set or different map.
Copy and paste everything else (Quests, landmarks needed for those quests, etc."
Even if it looked dorky that there was a CITY building rubble in the middle of a swamp- it still would atleast spice things up.
Thank You.

I was thinking the same thing,
Set up the tutorial skip as a quest where u skip ahead to the celebration at the end of the champions tower mission and when you talk to a mission npc it will give you enough exp. to gain whatever the average amount of levels a player can gain in that area then, go straight into canada or the desert.
Allthough haveing diffferent types and styles of tutotrails for each powerset or just a random one each time would be great as well.

They should create ONE tutorial system (for ppl already having gone through the normal one) but create it where they can switch out everything.
Your idea is great. They could have map textures, enemies, and quests tailored to each power set.
High Tech Lab walls and robots for Power Armor.
Scary Zombie walls and zombies for Sorcery.
Clear force-field walls and gangers for outside scenarios.
If the system allows the devs to just swap the enemies (zombies, robots, insects, gangers) and the WALL textures of an inside (or outside) building- they could keep everything else (npc's, quests, world objects, buildings, etc.)
A very simple, easily swappable tutorial could make the difference between a boring, dreadful tutorial- and a different, albeit the exact same experience. Sometihng as simple as what color the walls are, if the objects are cars or boxes, and if the enemies are zombies or insects- can make the entire difference in fixing the problem.
In essence, it would be like CoH instances- just only for the tutorial.

And as if the crisis zones won't also get repetitive. I certainly want more options, though, and an ability to skip tutorial might be nice and just get plopped in your crisis of choice and be level 5.
I also hope they allow accounts with level 40 characters to start in a unique crisis/tutorial for the first 8 or 10 levels in which they start with their nemesis.

If your making an alt you dont need a "tutorial" as you already know what your doing. totally signed.
Its the equivelent to being spoken to like a baby...over and over and over again. :P

Well I kinda feel that the turtorial should be much different. The city is under a large scale attack, you just created a LVL one hero with almost no powers. It should be something smaller like a small time villians hide out. They could do the swapping thing talked about (like the enemies, walls, objects, ect.) also they could create as many as they like and each tutorial lets you beat a different small time villain. Saving the whole city seems to grand for the start of your hero's adventures.

I agree, it's too long and should be optional.

It's not like it takes that much time to do the tutorial over again. Sheesh.
