The drodden originate from the moon Drod. They possess a curious social structure consisting of 4 age separated all female Castes. The Onsei are the female hatchlings. The Tunre are the worker caste, they care for the eggs hatchlings and Burin. The Tara are the sexually mature females who leave their world to learn and live. The Burin are the elder females, returning to their world to mate and die.

Drod is named after the drodden word for earth (as in soil, not planet). It is a lush violet moon orbiting a green gas giant which orbits a blue dwarf in a binary start system. The tops of buildings in massive cities poke thru the canopies of their barely disturbed violet rain forests. The cities also spread in strips across their deep blue oceans appearing like spiderwebs.

The drodden males are as different from the drodden females as you could possibly imagine, They are tiny nonsentient flying slugs no larger than any garden slugs. They fly around at night seeking the pheromones of a sexually mature female to mate with in her sleep. Upon finding her, they land on her abdomen and seek out a small opening where they crawl inside and undergo a rapid change in which their entire body converts into sperm cells impregnating the female.

The drodden females posses both an indo and exo skeletons. Their two hearts are behind two extra hard mounds on their chest. They have insect like heads covered in horns, humanoid bodies with spikes in their backs, and spiked reptilian tails. They are capable of standing and walking upright, but find it more comfortable to move on all fours. They are quick, agile, and strong. They are generally pleasant, but usually seeking danger. They are incapable of romantic love, due to massive difference in their sexes, but possess a very strong sense of comradery with those they fight beside. When impregnated they lay around 700 golf ball sized female eggs, and around 10,000 BB sized male eggs. Shortly after laying their eggs they die, their body having given all of it's energy to the next generation. They posses a very strong survival instinct, and leave their world just as they are about to mature. In the worlds beyond the drodden usually seek out adventure, fighting fight after fight aiding the worlds they visit. They will usually stay on one world until their mating instinct overrides their survival instinct and they return home to mate and die. The best way to describe their mentality is kind of a mix between movie races Xenomorph(Aliens) and Yautja(Predator) with a strong sense of heroics added in.

ADDENDUM:
- Barma is a "fruit" that grows on Drod with a high alcohol content, and as sweet as an apple. The drodden suffer no ill effects from alcohol, as it is an important part of their diet.

Good description of your idea. The Drodden actually remind me if the Asari in Mass Effect. With the whole different life cycles and mainly female (although inaccurate to call asari female) species. Also like how combined the alien and predator aliens(redundant isn't it?) with your own idea.

Which brings me to my next question: Alien or Predator. Your favorite.

Xenomorphs and Yautja are quite different in motive and method. Drodden lie somewhere in between.
Xenomorphs ofcourse! after playing the original AvsP, i couldn't get enough of ceiling crawling!

Glad I'm not the one who likes Aliens the most. Use to like Predators but after I saw Alien and Aliens I fell in love with their ability to fu*k you up. Both figuratively and literally.
