Everyone is aware of the new Grond-isms game that occurs in MC Zone chat. And yes I know many people find it annoying. You have the right to click "Ignore Player" on the context menu. But if I or others are not posting multiple times in rapid succession to zone chat then we are NOT guilty of SPAM no matter how annoying you may find it. Just because a lot of people participate does not mean each player is guilty of spam themselves.

I'm starting a mission today to get the Devs to recognize that when people abuse the "Report Spam" button to get someone auto-silenced that it is harassment. You have done something personally to me willfully and to negatively affect my gameplay experience. That is harassment. And it's not cute or funny.

Please try to treat other people's play experience with respect. And it's obvious from how many people the game every time it comes up that a vast number of people find it, at the very least, amusing. I've even seen people groan "Not this again" and then end up participating. It's not that bad and it generally dies down after just a few minutes so try not to act so stuck up all the time.

It literally bothers me that much.

It was either that or quote "Diary" by Chuck Palahniuk, but that's only relevant regarding the title.

Actually, we've been informed (a few times now) that Ignoring a player adds points to them, just like Report Spam, and after a certain number of Ignores, you get a 24-hour autoban.

OTOH, I've participated in the Grondfests from time to time, and I have yet to be autobanned. Maybe it's because I try to take the time to make mine at least a little original and amusing (seriously, guys, Grond Theft Auto was probably the first such joke ever - it's even echoed by one mission, Grond Theft Altercation. It's not new any more, and you are far from the first, or even the seventy-first, to notice it).

Couldn't care less about the Grond jokes, but the "Report Spam" feature is so broken it makes broken mirrors give you good luck.

Going to point to the red link in my sig for additional strength to the cause.

This is all moot. Reporting someone for spam or putting them on ignore causes the same exact outcome when enough people do it. Auto-ban. For some odd reason, I don't think that's what was meant by the expression "power to the players".

Exactly.

"Power to the players," is not meant to mean, "developer shirks its responsibilities."

No they're not. I have no idea what you're referring to. But it seems to involve players being silenced and then banned, and there's one easy response to that action.

It's insane.

The MOST that players in this game should be allowed to do is identify someone that they think is violating the EULA, or boundaries of good taste, or whatever element that is offensive to the body entire.

ANYTHING that occurs due to such postings should be the responsibility of the GMs (and BTW, I don't think the devs should have anything to do with this either... it's not really their bailiwick.) Lockouts from chat, 24 hour bans, even being thrown out of the game - NOT ONE OF THESE should be possible to be effected by the players.

Because it only takes a (relative) handful of jerks to decide someone should be banned... and next thing you know, this group is gathering more members to force their actions on other players, even if they're innocent. And then the non-participating players are driven away, and the "banners" suddenly have no one to pick on, so they leave... and that's how you destroy an MMO.

Keep the game controls out of the hands of the players, period. And Cryptic? Could you please HIRE SOME ******NED GM'S? You know, people who keep an eye on the game and what's going on in it? Some people who might even be able to ADDRESS PROBLEMS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS?!?!?
