1. since the specialization patch, freeforms are either 1 shot, or super tank, now, if you were to think to yourself, what is there to have on this game? you have this strange feeling of asking yourself "what's next?" sure, getting the best items is part of it, roleplaying (of course) completing all the quests etc. but what about the competitive side? look at pvp, its dying, almost no one notices that it's still there. yes sure, pvp is just a choice of course but one aspect of having an MMO is competition (smack me up if im wrong) and maybe this is one way of living up to what cryptic is trying to say "we are gonna get pvp back." come on guys, 1 free form slot cant hurt your subscription, if you say "freeform is the only reason why the gold sub is there, think again, its listed, the difference between a gold sub and just a silver player, we are having problems with currencies, (250 limit? come on, where's the life in that? silvers can barely find a way just to get dark speed or even mechassassin's hands) stipend? yezzur, you get to choose the costumes or save for 2 months (with qnite -> c-points) for an archetype that silver players would love to get their hands on. 8 character slots man, wow. . that's seriously cool. . .i mean, a few character slots is equivalent to. . . i dont know, a month sub? but that's just a character slot (if some of your are really taking it as a pain in terms of money) you have most of the travel powers (do i have to say more?)

my point is, if you think that giving silver players a CHANCE and i mean CHANCE is a bummer, is unfair, or would just lead you to unsubbing because its already there, (the slot) goodluck. . seriously, goodluck on adjusting back to the struggle. . .

maybe cryptic will give gold players something someday, if you complain that "wth cryptic, silvers get something while we, who pays you monthly, gets nothing for already a few months" then you sir/mam, is an impatient selfish unthinking homo sapien. hate me, yes its ok, like what the other complainers said "this is my opinion" and my opinion alone.

i even read someone saying "we cant bully them anymore in pvp ----> is this counted?"

i respect that answer sir, and yes i have no place in this forum. im just a silver player giving his opinion. but really? then what now? where's the old fun in just 1 on 1 duels in ren cen 1? yes you won against the silvers sir, i would humbly submit to your victory, but mind you, i bet you feel kinda lonely and lost since there is nothing more you can win against now. . .


bringing pvp back, maybe this is the reason why cryptic is doing this. MAYBE. . .but as of now, you cant see what's coming and your complaints are normal and right.

Speaking as a silver who recently won a freeform slot from a grab bag (I say won cause I feel like its a lottery or something) our selections are still limited based on our account rank. From what I've seen we're still limited in total number of powers and advantage points, as well as a difference in when we are able to receive certain powers (I'm not sure how this works yet but I suspect we'll be given an archetype like progression with blast powers, block powers and passive powers available at specific levels only). The only thing we get essentially is potential access to any powers we want, which is pretty nice I agree and could allow for some pretty potent builds. However given the disparity I foresee Gold members far surpassing these new advantages. Additionally there is currently NO resource for freeform builds in this format so, unless the community starts help silvers make their freeforms too its never going to be truly competitive.

The people who use that justification won't change their mind, and to them not subbing makes you a cheapskate. Doesn't matter if you're a "lowly" silver out-performing their precious FF either ;).


I've had a few years of subbing in swg, wow, and coh. All have had better customer service than my CO experience. All have provided a better product, or at least did until the point of my cancellation (better product as in while I was active the experience was better). I have yet to see any major improvement since starting CO other than whiteout, as most "improvements" have come with plenty of bugs. There are bugs that have existed since I started. Of a number of trouble tickets, only one I've filed was resolved in a satisfactory matter (AF that had been earned that was never issued). I've come to expect a several day wait before getting a response, and expect that response to be a pre-written notification explaining that we're sorry but nothing can be done.

People do express disapproval with their wallets, yet that concept seems to be lost on certain people.

Some people simply don't feel the need to spend that much more on their entertainment, or do and more but divert those funds elsewhere.

How are you able to tell that the power progression and number of advantage points are different for the FF slot versus a gold slot? My understanding is that this shouldn't be the case.

From what I have heard is that this freeform is just like the gold member version. With everything, but colour tinting and emanation points customization.
I dont know how familiar you are with the game mechanics but you cant hit the game running with Ebon Ruin, there are restriction. For example you need 5 powers from darkness powerset or 6 non-energy-building powers from any powerset to get Ebon Ruin.
As for advantage point take a look at this page here it will tell you when and how many point you get per level.

After this I am done with my participation in this thread.

My points are:

I disagree with F2P. Players who intially invested in the game with Subs are the ones who floated the game. If they had not the game would not have launched. It took subs to get it to F2P. The free ride occured when F2P was incepted.

I have no problem, as I stated before in this thread, with free players buying the Freeform slot from the C-store at a reasonable price. You agreed with this statement. I also stated this almost a year ago.

F2P players did bring new life into the game. No problems there. We were hemoraging players daily and number of instances were shrinking. But this business model was supposed to be about giving players a taste of the game so they would want to sub. Now we give them more reasons to no sub and to not try. Yet continually the difference between sub and non-sub is erroded.

Subscribing players also pay large amounts into the PW/Cryptic coffers. I know I have spent more than $500 over the last 2 months or so. We also paid subs and LTS. Yet little or nothing is being added to increase the value of Gold subs. Instead, we have on line gambling for a chance to get something of value. Just put the stuff in the C-Store at a reasonable but competative price. I hope this clarifies it enough. You have always in the past been reasonable in your communications. I hope this helps.
