And what was your superstat/spec combo?

I think i will run some tests and see what numbers I get on PTS at level eight with lightning arc.

2k at the end of a Lighting arc maintain vs Alert mobs (higher resistances) sounds outstanding.
You may have found a pretty nice combo there, and it should be explored.
I did have electric form and I'm pretty sure I was in avenger. One thing to note is that I made sure I was getting the ions debuff on my targets since LA does higher damage against an ionized target. And I was ranking up my LA instead of my electric form as that produces a more noticeable damage difference in the early levels.

Man, Hi Pan. It was my first time fighting him yesterday, and I was playing a Might character. Imagine my surprise when I nearly sent him into orbit. It was hilarious. :D

I did this yesterday for all the alerts I did. It was always easy to tell if we were going to destroy the alert, or if it was going to take a while (or fail).

I did maybe some 10 or so alerts yesterday while I was level 17 to 20 (continued to level 25 but showing these relevant numbers).

I don't think I did very bad at all. I was doing plenty of DPS since I ended up having aggro most of the time and having to tank (in brawler mode, no less). Many of these alerts were Bludhound. Not sure if that matters.

When there's tanks in the group, I shouldn't be the one with aggro. Even just doing taps of Haymaker.

There has to be a compromise. While I have no issues with lowbies joining up with the highbies (that a word yet?), there has to be a level criteria where players are proficient enough with enough powers both offense and defense wise to contribute significantly. Level 6 is just not it.
I think level 15 would be the sweet spot.

So, my lvl 14 Inferno (who was contributing nicely to the team, thankyouverymuch) is the equivalent of a lvl 6 character, fresh out of the PH, being played by someone who's never played CO before? And I have no more business doing Alerts than the aforementioned brand-new lvl 6?

I think that before this discussion can move toward consensus, it's going to be necessary to define "lowbie" for our current purposes.

The Inferno AT is pretty dreadful, to be honest.

15 would work. It's a high enough level for people to have a few decent skills, passives, and some specializations. Anything lower than 10 is a nuisance at this point. Even powered up to 30, if you just have throw fire and fire strike, you aren't going to be very useful in a fight.

I think tiers with tiered rewards would be ideal. This would solve the make-new-alt-to-farm-questionite problem as well, since your level 6 new alt wouldn't earn very much compared to your experienced characters. Also, we could get a worthwhile SMASH reward for level 40s. And you could sidekick everyone up, like they do in Hero Games, so my level 40 doesn't have to be handicapped to play.

Handicapping 40s aside, I really think that just upping the level requirement for it would be enough. When I'm on a 40, I don't mind helping out some of the lower guys. They'd have to balance each Alert multiple times for each tier if they split everyone up by level. I don't think that's a good thing.

I'm just left wondering what was wrong with the "scary tech" they used for all the open events like bloodmoon, anniversary and what I've been seeing on my Nemesis minions? I'd love to know why they went with this clunky sidekick system that cuts 40's damage in half while giving the too squishy level 6's enough DPS to rip aggro from 40's (seen this enough times this weekend) and get themselves insta-gibbed.

Breaking alerts into tiers would just lower the pool of available players and lengthen queue times.

Level 40s absolutely should get a different reward for SMASHes though.

MOTHER OF GOD I'm surprised she had a face left after that.

Aren't they using that skull-difficulty stuff in the alerts, as well as sidekicking to 30?

I dunno, maybe it has something to do with lower levels not scaling well to 40, or something. I dunno. It does seem like a better fit than to make 40s worse. I dunno.
