Will record something.. once.. I get free disk space (15 minutes of footage -> 45-90gb, and I just had ~1-2 tb of footage from other games I had to go through first.. allways fun when you try and make a pvp video with black and white intro and linkin park music but realize FFS all I recorded was GANKING FREAKIN NOOBS t.t )... get ready for mindless keyspamming xD

This might be a good place to talk about the best way to capture video.

I use ZD Soft screen capture software and selected 30fps and the DV Video Encoder codec. The results look pretty good, the action is smooth, but the colors look kind of grey. I set the movie dimensions to 640x400px. For seven minutes of footage the file size came in at about 1.5gigs. I'll post the video when it's done uploading.

Anyone have suggestions on the best techniques for recording and getting stuff ready for YouTube?

I am sure people use different techniques than I, but I use FRAPS to record 30FPS avi files (several gigs, ofc, but I have a big HD) and I normally record in 1280x720 resolution (although my monitor supports 1080p). CO is the one game I play in windowed mode, so its FRAPS renders end up letterboxed. I usually try to avoid that.

I use Sony Vegas Pro 11 for all of my editing, effects, text generation, motion tracking, etc. I then export to 720p 30FPS wmv files (which visual quality doesn't seem to suffer any loss). This makes my 5minute video maybe 120 MB, so it's relatively youtube-friendly.
