I was talking with my brother about how much we both love the character creation of the game and a raher random idea popped into my head.
What if there could be a thing set up where there would be a stack of generic comic-book-style panel images with optional empty speech bubbles where your character/s and nemeses (or is the plural nemesi?) would be imported into the image into poses set to fit the image. By having enough generic images you could order the images any way you want and add your own dialogue and narration text and at the end of it you had an actual short saveable and printable comic featuring your own characters! You could tell their origin story, or their show-down with their nemesis etc and have something really lasting to memorialise your character!
Sure people with good comic-art skills or screen-capture and photoshop skills could do this already but for the rest it'd be such a cool feature, especially if it could render the characters in a flat cell-shaded comicbook look.
I don't know how easy this would be to do, but the costume-save images with the comic-cover look makes me think it might be possible. Is it just me or do others think that'd be a seriously cool thing?

From a technical point of view I doubt that this could be a feature of the game client. It could however be possible to make it a feature on the Champions web page. I'd use it.
A somewhat simplified version of this is to be able to make custom comic frames, just one single shot, possibly from a number of templates, where our hero is doing something appropriately heroic. We would then be able to display those action frames to others to look cool :-) Put them on our character pages, have as screenshot to put on Facebook or whatever...

Considering how much something like this has been brought up in the months I've been a part of this, I think there may be enough people interested to get a license from Cryptic to create a separate client program for making comics, machinima, and similar fan/user-created items.
That would, of course, depend on whether there are enough such interested parties with up-to-date programming skills, and whether Cryptic would be interested in such a license. But if both of those are affirmative, then a good Kickstarter project could be in order.
If it's done, whether by Cryptic or a third party, I'd like to be able to use multiple heroes and multiple Nemeses in the same work. If nothing else, I'd want to be able to make group shots of my characters, and illos of my Nemeses and their Minions similar to the art sample of Cyberlord and his bots.

Good point MeisterKatz on facebook, that could be a good way to stir up some extra publicity for the game on social media. A competition or two encouraging people to post the comics on facebook could help really push the thing. People might even start signing up to the game just to make their comics :)
Oh totally! With one of my characters the sister of another they'd need to feature in each others origin stories and while i could mix'n'match images in order to put them in the same story having them both in the same image would be way better. Perhaps some form of 'with permission' could be used so people could feature other people characters as long as the original player is happy with it? That way you can have team-ups and supergroup stories!

I like the idea but it's not feasible in game last we heard. Not this exactly, but when something similar was suggested for emblems it was basically a no-go because the art would be needed on all the clients, and the amount of stuff put up would probably be too much for the game to handle and the client to constantly need to download. I imagine it would be something similar would be the case with custom art. Also, very difficult to police. There would be wangs everywhere.

The awesome new Green Room in the tailor in the powerhouse makes this idea even more feasable.
All we'd need is a way to get the characters into action-poses that hold long enough for an easy Print Screen button push and a range of comic backgrounds to put them into. Of course not everyone has photoshop or the like too so a webpage-based system still would be good for this i think. Still maybe we could have a 'how to make the most of the green-room' article or sticky here on the forum with a how-to for people? And a gallery for people to post backgrounds for everyone to use so we can make our own comics?

One particular part that would be extra handy would be a list of all of the emotes in CO, along with pictures (either static or animated GIFs) showing what each does.
And I'll give /signed to the gallery of backgrounds.
