all this earth and wind talk has got me in an elemental mood. while im waiting for earth , i decided to roll fire.

I was wondering if anyone has actually played an inferno in pvp? How can i compensate for no defense without teleport?

Are there just some ATs I cant beat? Im looking to take this to t4.

I used to play an inferno at 40. My answer is don't pvp with it.

The Inferno's main damaging attack is conflag when buffed with fireball from unstable accelerant. Conflag sucks because it self roots you, has a relatively small range, needs points to be spent to track people with, and is a maintain. You are not going to kill many builds faster than they kill you, especially if they can knock you or stun you.

You can try setting up heat wave, but it's not an instant hold, it self roots you, and a smart player will just run out of range to make you waste it. You also have no defense whatsover, and your SS means you will have very low HP with no way to do high criticals to make up for it.

The inferno can work well killing npcs in ZA, or as a second player zombie if the first one distracts them, but in any other mode there are so many negatives that it's pointless to play them. The inferno does really well in PvE for an AT, which is its prime strength. PvP you may get some kills, but the repeated deaths are going to grate on you after a while.

^What he said. You're a squishy without a good spike to kill people before they get you. Unless a Mind Ego Storms people and you get in there, you're not gonna be very scary.

never underestimate the power of fireball taps. I've seen some scary things come out of infernos when they've got fire snake with advantage chasing someone around they cced with fire strike, slowed/energy procced with flashfire, then pounded on with advantaged fireballs. Back in the day, using acro+adv, I actually won a good number of duels doing that, which should be pretty impossible for a build as squishy as an inferno. Although, point: If you're looking at pvp, conflag is only good for a short burst to proc nailed to the ground, in my opinion. The fireball taps will burn people down way faster, and if you're good enough with the acro you can make ZA a nightmare, since you're fast enough to zip out of LOS if you're getting pounded and pop a heal device. I'd imagine the same might hold true for arena, too. I see it happen enough on other squishies.

Of course, it's way easier if you've got a nimbus or some other shields you can pop.

I think inferno has a bit of an undeserved reputation in pvp, mostly because people play the stationary nuker. It's a bit harder, but it's still viable, and the reaction when you do well with one is always hilarious.

Damn, now I wanna play one again.

AT PvP doesn't have anything that is as dominant as those pure PvP FF builds, which means every AT can be successful. Inferno may be able to get kills, but it's outshined by Soldier, so unless you're a Pyro, there are better options.
