Hi guys I was going over the forums and realized that there aren't a lot of them around since having ranged and melee is kind of strange since the roles are could affect your dps greatly.So I went ahead anyway with building a ego/darkness themed toon which I think could be the answer too many problems or a hopeless FAIL. Nonetheless I will appreciate any help and suggestions from you Champions.

With this build I made the SS End and Con so to help with survivability also because I read somewhere that choosing anything else would not be advisable for a 1st time toon of this nature. The Gear is going to concentrate around Dex/Ego/Rec. I want this build to be able to handle PvE with ease and maybe a little PvP (if I'm in the mood to crush some @&$). Again I would greatly appreciate any help and thank you for reading. :)

Why's Shadow Embrace in there? That's the only Darkness power you have that'll have any sort of role conflict.

Just use Ego Blade Frenzy and call it a day.

I'll echo Sage. Embrace is the only thing getting you into role conflict, and it's redundant compared to EBF anyway.

I'd throw out Embrace, shift the whole build up, and pick up Ebon Ruin w/ Paranormal Paranoia, and just use it as a tap debuff. If you're really missing out on the AE nailed from Embrace, pick up TK Wave w/ Nailed instead.

Also, Mental Discipline only buffs Ego damage, so you're already buffing your melee more than your ranged. Just bite the bullet.

Edit: Also, using Ego Reverb without SS EGO is not recommended. If you're dead set on CON/END, use Spirit Reverb (Void Shift will set up the fear, use a tap of Ebon Ruin to apply Dimensional DoT). Else, go DEX/EGO and embrace your fragility.

If you are considering Ego/Darkness, why not use the ranged Ego attacks to begin with?

This goes to what I see here: there's a lot of clutter and not enough focus. There is potential synergy between Darkness and Mentalist power sets, though to me Darkness has more in common with Telepathy than with Telekinesis. What occurs to me is fundamentally different from what you have in mind, but let's explore it anyhow:

The primary thrust of this is to hide behind a throng of summoned ghosts and gleefully not die to any of it. It's simple enough that there are plenty of ways to make it your own. For this particular build, it goes Sentinel role; it includes enough crowd control and support to be highly effective in a team or to simply plow through stuff solo.

As you can see, it's Telepathy on the front end and Darkness on the back end. If you want to roleplay a gradual slide to the Dark Side of the Force with this progression, by all means do so. Ego Sprites and Ego Sleep will be sufficient to carry you to Collective Will at level 17, where this build really takes off. Spam ghosts, protect yourself, and refresh crowd control as necessary. Easy peasy!

AoPM in Sentinel role makes this pretty mindless, though there are a number of ways to rejigger this. Aura of Arcane Clarity will help with the front-end energy issues - making Dark Transfusion less necessary - or you could take a more aggressive turn with Shadow Form. (For a Shadow Form variant, substitute Empathic Healing for Lifedrain and drop Mindful Reinforcement for an Active Defense.)

There's plenty of wiggle room with powers, too. Ebon Void can be subbed out for just about any shield, depending on what you want to achieve. Ebon Ruin is pure gravy and is there for its debuff and its charge wallop. Telekinetic Burst is there to put Disorient on bosses in order to continue Telepathic Reverberation. You could even make Darkness the tier 1 base and flip the focus around, taking Collective Will and Ego Storm on the back end.

The energy unlock is pretty fluid as well. There are opportunities to swap it to Spirit Reverberation or even MSA. I like Telepathic Reverberation best because it turns Ego Storm from an energy hog into a self-perpetuating energy engine. But your mileage may vary.

While I realize this isn't at all like the Telekinesis melee guy you have in mind, this is an example of the interplay available between Mentalist and Darkness. It's all over the place. Just focus on the elements that work and backfill the rest with energy helpers and active offense/defense powers.
