# 1 Jetboard Flight?

Haven't seen this one thrown around, but an ice slide TP skin as a JET Board would be awesome. Basically the same mechanics as Ice Slide except as a tech-based board with a jetstream like jet boots or jetpacks.

Nice idea. But if the board is equiped with jet engines, wouldn't it make more sense if it was capable of true flight? Sounds more like a candidate for another "surf" flight power to me. ;)

Not really.
I'm always marveled by the idea that a horizontal jet engine could keep something hovering. :p

And totally /signed
Ice slide is my favorite travel power in the game. But since it's ice it got some rather limited uses.

/want a glider!!!!!
(So totally NOT having ideas of Goblin clones, no no...)

But if possible, with the same "feel" as Ice Slide (ie: inertia, glides around) AND static hovering.
(I tend to go AFK on very short notice/don't always have time to find a safe spot)

Hmmmm, heard of VTOL?
Exactly like an Harrier would: either by diverting the power from the turbines to horizontal rotors or tilt said turbines. ^_^

First visual effect might be easier to put in place, and would be WAY cool with a small swirling animation (bit like tornado flight, but on a much smaller magnitude).

Horizontal. Thattaway >
Vertical. Thattaway v
One is for propulsion and one is to stay afloat.

Adding a hover effect will make it a new power. Not a reskin of Ice Slide. Which would add development time. (or make it a skin of Hover Disk)
Personally I'm hoping that the extra Jet Pack addition to the calender is a simple mistype and is a new skin for ice slide(or worse... Hover Disk).

Sigh. Not to start a fight or anything, but did you, at least, check the link provided?
The Harrier has its turbines on an horizontal plane, but can use the power generated to take-off/land vertically.
Nothing prevents the visual to mimic such mechanism (ie rockets tilting from horizontal to vertical and back).

This is a suggestion thread, yes?
I liked the idea from the OP, just added what I thought would be cool in my opinion.
After that, whether it's a reskin, a new power or even a new mechanism is all up to the devs.
In any case, people will complain it's yet another flight power anyway...

Tilt able exhausts. (aka vectored thrust)
4 of them to be more precise. 2 on each side. Tilted downwards to generate vertical thrust for take off and landing.
And it's classed as a V/STOL but thats just me nitpicking. :p
(pulled that from memory. did I forget something?)

How to say... A Jet/rocketboard to me would be like surfing on an actual rocket.
Glue a surfboard on top of a rocket and you are done. (or go retro-esque and a Jetsons style "rocket" with ringed exhaust)

But if the power gets changed it's a new power(or rather hover disk).

And Ice Slide is really not a flight power. But since it's airborne people treat it as such.

I must add they are already in-game: Super-jet.

Your idea of a "Jetson" board fits indeed better the Ice-Slide reskin, i'm beaten there.
Both in that it's being propelled and in its movement (inertia).
I really like it, it would go extremely well with the Sci-fi set (just like the ring-jetpack).

But, when I read jetboard, I saw this.
Basically a "board", with turbines/reactors, as stabilizers and as shown as main propulsion.
You can also see the 2 rotors I mentioned in my first suggestion.
Maybe this fits better the Hover disk, granted, but then again, it all depends on your understanding of jetboard and as I mentioned, to the Devs' discretion.

I don't see why the fact it's a reskin or a new power matters that much to you.
Is it because you fear they'd need to spend more time creating new physics for that model?
I've developed stuff so I won't ever say "Shouldn't take too long to mix Hover Disk and Flight", but the physics are already present.
Maybe I just misunderstand what you mean, but it'll be a new "power" anyway, no?
(Since we can't select skins for our powers, only color; and with Flight/Fire Flight as example)

And yes, again I concede, airborne, not flight, sorry.
I could mention the thread subject, or the many comments about this week power release referred to as "Yet another flight power". Both would explain the sarcasm of my last line.
