# 1 Cut Scenes Rudeness

This game has the most obtrusive cut scenes in any game I've seen. Why? Because you gain control of your character, can start doing something like checking out your new loot or typing to a friend, and BAM, the cut scene just butts right in.

I don't care what happens after I've already seen it. PLEASE give us the option to skip cut scenes. I generally enjoy this game but this single thing annoys me enough while playing that it makes me simply want to log off or do something that doesn't have any cut scenes.

They've mentioned before that stuff that's simply a view of like, the environment of a zone is skippable because it doesn't potentially break anything. When NPC's appear that may or may not intend to be there when you actually play the mission, it could conflict until they've gone through their scripts.

There are tons of in-mission cutscenes where it's just some annoying guy standing still talking for 5 minutes, with no scripted movement or spawning of any kind. They NEED to be skippable. :(

The end of the script is a known state. If I hit the "please skip this" button jump to the known state at the end. Scripts can be interrupted and the scene can be setup as expected when the script is done. It's not programming the mars lander, it's scripting.

"We can't" is an excuse from the community manager/representatives to try and please people asking the question who want a definitive answer. However it's a lie. They definitely CAN, they just won't. I'm expressing my extreme hatred for cut scenes in an attempt to change won't to might... and maybe will soon..... and then maybe in the "next patch".... and then it's in the patch notes.

In that vein, from a technical standpoint (outliers not withstanding), there is no such answer as "can't"

Technically, Cryptic -could- program most anything we wanted into Champs. Wall running, fixing the targetting bug, all these things. Do they have the time to do everything? Absolutely not.

What it comes down to is exactly the same as I tell my boss at work: "I can code X, Y and Z for you, but you gotta tell me what priority order you want 'em in." We, as players, don't set the importance of an issue. It's obvious that skippable cutscenes aren't high on the effort vs reward scale for Cryptic right now.

Hell, it took us a LONG time to get them to remove the TP removers from every tom, **** and harry trash mob in VB, and believe you me, there were many more people yelling on the forums about that than have ever complained about cut scenes being unskippable.

The script answer is a no go for me for two reasons.

1) Some cutscenes that were skippable and didn't break anything during the ludicrous amount of times I've gone through this game suddenly became unskippable...for fear of breaking something...that never broke on me...and that I never ran across a thread complaining that it broke something (and we know how we complain when something is broken).

2) Enemies that spawn in cutscenes can be seen really spawning after the cutscene is over *cough* Oubilette *cough* so I'm not convinced they are scritping during the cutscene to be in place.

some are unneeded unskipable, like the sewer mission.
the first one is 2 guy's getting a bag of money and then your character interrupts it, seeing them running away.
now the second CS (to make it easy) is a completely different guy running to the door guard warning that your character is coming and that they need to close the door behind him, still following it? :p

now just this part can be skipable by connecting the two of them in one CS, when you skip it the only thing you will see are the two guy's running away.
the two CS in the warehouse just need to be skipable since they don't set anything up at all, just defender walking trough a door and some wacko's talking about a plan, they disappear anyway so skipping should just skip there dialog and make them disappear like first.

this is just the first mission, and already the CS can be skipped with ease....

I already know this, I was just reiterating the only response you may or may not even get regarding it.

As for me, I agree, but it's not a big thing for me either since I just multi-task when I play indoor missions anyway.

It's not about indoor missions for me, it's Resistance. Especially the sewer in Resistance, where I have to sit through so many dang cut scenes and don't even at least get a blue for doing the entire thing. I realize the prison then rocks you with 3 or so bosses and blues and thankfully minimal cut scenes, but that just leads me to believe the sewer should be removed.

It's also aftershock #6. In the end you probably spend more time in cut scenes than actually controlling your characters. It's neat the first time, but a "don't show me cut scenes during this playthrough" option would make it so much more bearable.
