# 1 Serious Chat issue needing ASAP help

I have petitioned a GM a few times, but I figure I can try to post it here.

My issue is that some people, even people on my friends list, are not appearing in chat. This basically means they are on ignore, but there are no names on my ignore list.

My privacy settings are whitelisting everyone, but still the problem continues. New players, new guild members, and players in new zones are invisible to me.

Sometimes I can get them back if I do the following:
1. Addignore the @name of the player
2. Remove the ignore
3. Add them as a friend

This doesn't always work and so my chat is relatively quiet and devoid of people. This is a gamebreaking issue.

Any help would be awesome. I'm at my wits end .

I updated my bug report. It seems that people I "fix" reset to being invisible every patch.

You had this problem before the 6/29 patch? Odd, I have it now as of that patch. Anyway, yeah, it's an obnoxious problem; I get dropped into different instances as my teammates, and then can't use team chat to ask them which instance they're in... gets old fast.

EDIT: Oh, I should ask - in addition to not seeing them in chat, they're not listed in the "change instance" lists and whatnot, correct? If not, I'm describing a different bug.

My problem is different, because it has nothing to do with the team chat issues.

For example, Bob@superbob is on my friends list and he's talking to Sue@superSue. I see Sue talking to bob, but not bob replying in any chat channel. I also can't send or receive tells, he appears offline and in some cases completely vanishes from my friends list.

I started having this issue when aftershock came out.

Still having a problem with chat. Apperantly anyone not on my friendslist is invisible in any form of chat. This has made roleplay, pvp, and general gameplay fairly difficult. I'm about to quit this game due to this issue.

I'm having the same issue, I can't see chat from anyone who isn't either on my team, or on my friends list.

You've turned on full privacy mode or some toggle that keeps you from seeing any chat whatsoever except from your friends.

I thought it was a / command however, which means it's kinda hard to do by accident. Go search around the forums - it's something that can be toggled back off with another / command.

Its not a bug. you all maybe unchecked the "Global" and maybe the "Local" too in your chat settings.
Press "Esc" then "Chat Settings" and in the "Tabs" tab and make sure about the Global and Local is checked.
