# 1 Enfield's Champions Online Costume Creator Tutorial

(for those too bored to read my rambling)

A while back now I wanted to make a little vid explaining the costume creator in detail.
I have run into a number of players who seem to have trouble with it.
From the newbie in zone chat who had half a dozen people explain to him that jackets are not unlocked through the c-store, to a real life friend telling me that the costume creator is extremly limited since characters can't even wear hats.
I wanted a fool proof way of saying "Here, this is how you do it."
Of course nothing is fool proof.
No plan survives the encounter with the enemy and this one didn't realy survive the encounter with me.
I got a bad cold while trying to make this - been coughing for a month. I wouldn't have expected this to be so hard on my voice.

And speaking of voice... Why on earth did I decide to have a female character walk people through the tutorial?
I tried a number of voice changing software - hated all of 'em.
Got something that could be called acceptable and the recording would mess up.
Did two thirds of the talking, saved the files and decided to wrap up after I got some sleep.
And even though I had checked all files and made backups, when I got back both the files and their backup had gotten corrupted...
So started again.

Not that doing the video was easy.
The latest drivers for my graphics card were not actually 100% compatible with my laptop. The idle memory got set to too low, meaning that trying to edit the video would randomly cause the display driver to run out of memory and crash... as early as 2 seconds into opening a movie file.
*sigh*
Returned to an older driver (but newer than the one I had bought this thing with) and everything is fine now - the driver is new enough for King Arthur the roleplaying wargame not to crash and old enough for media player not to crash either - yay :)

Anyway.
Long story short (or as they say in this interweb thingie: tl;dr)
I hate how this came out, but it's been hell trying to make the vid, so here it is:

hope you like it more than I do... and perhaps it will even help the odd person

OP : I think you're selling yourself a bit short here , I thought the video was outstanding . During my first couple of weeks of playing , I teamed up with someone for Stronghold . When we met inside the instance , I noticed his character was wearing a trenchcoat . I had no idea they were available until that player told where to look in the costume creator . As you state in your original post I think this video would be very helpful for new players in 2 ways :

1. The obvious , making them more familiar with the creation process .

2. They'd then be able to pass the information along to others .

A bit off topic :

Enfield : I would like to see this character as an npc contact or sidekick device . I thought the voicework was well done .

Anyways , great vid .

Cheers :)

Excellent guide. Thank you very much for the work you put into this. I agree with LAFURY that you are selling yourself short here. The video turned out wonderfully.

Good point re: the voice acting in general , but cmon it isn't all bad . Some nem missions , Andrith (Lemurian sorcery !) have decent voicework (repetition re Lemurian Sorcery !!!!!!!!!! Not included ).

The work put into this combined with the capabilities of showing what CO has to offer deserves a sticky .
