I hate it when people take things that are supposed to be unique and then suddenly they're everywhere, because all the little socially-inept gamers with a severely low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence want to be "special". That's why you see a billion Drizzts running around in fantasy games. Salvatore should be shot for even suggesting that a Dark Elf could be redeemed... And all the gamers who want to play him should learn to realize that when everyone else does the same "unique" thing as you, you cease to be unique. |
it's kinda useless to talk about uniqueness when the game has not much options to be unique, on what ever way.

Pffffft.
You can still be unique. It doesn't end just on looks. Otherwise people like me would get "u sukk wannabe talbain!"

Think of it like this - making a character is like making food from a recipe. You're using stuff everyone knows about and has probably eaten before. What you're doing though is combining it in a way that makes it taste uniquely different from any of those single food items by themselves. Not only that, but even making the same thing as someone else, it might taste better, worse, or completely different than someone else's due to quality of ingredients, skill in cooking, and personal twists on the standard recipe.
Anyway, just my thoughts on it. I've seen the "nothing's original anymore" argument many a time. I both agree and disagree with it, much for the reasons I just stated.

you can't have an entire different effect even while the attack it self is the same, you can't change your color drastically enough to really make the character look unique.
worst of all, with the tier system limiting everything, you can never ever say "i have a complete different build then anyone els" since there is bound to be a few dozens of other players having the exact same build.
i know very well uniqueness isn't all about looks but also function, but for how this game stands, uniqueness is close to impossible.

Bright hot pink blasts and head emanation points with rock-star looks for me.
