Hey y'all..
Since the Costume Savefile Renaming Tool from Avengaline is no longer available, I went ahead and made one of my own. I never got to see the original, so don't think of this as a replacement. It probably doesn't look, or function anything like it.
However, like Avengaline, I am also allergic to documentation, so there isn't any in the program. Things to note:
Usual disclaimer: Provided as-is, without warranty, don't blame me if your PC explodes, or your dog dies, blah blah blah.

And you can get the application itself from here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/costumerename/
Feedback and bugs in this thread or in PMs. I don't mind either.
Enjoy!
p.s. Thanks to everyone who's helped me beta test this. You know who you are.
Current Version: 0.8alpha.
Change log:
- Added dialog window for when the application can't find your CO install folder automatically.
- Changed the names of some UI elements to more accurately reflect the Cryptic naming scheme.

However, like Avengaline, I am also allergic to documentation, so there isn't any in the program. Things to note:
- Backing up your current costumes is highly recommended. In fact, the very first thing the application will do will be to ask you if you want to back up your costumes. You should say 'Yes' to this. The COCRT backs up costumes to a 'COCRT' folder under your mail Champions Online folder (Yes, it finds this stuff from the registry, so it won't ask you where your Champs folder is, unless you have a b0rked Champs install)
- In cryptic's world, each costume has 2 names - The account name, and the costume name itself. This application allows to you edit both, and you can call them whatever you want. Be aware - It doesn't matter what name you put in the account name, all players of Champions Online on that computer will have access to that costume (character gender specificity still applies, of course). Personally, I like to put the character name in the account name box, and the name of the costume in the other box. You can use both boxes, or just one. Neither this program nor Champions Online will care.
- The weird number at the end of each costume file name is the date, and that shows up inside the Costume Load screen within the Tailor. Or at least, it's Cryptic's version of the date. Big thanks to derangement for helping me figure out what relationship that number had to an actual unix timestamp. The COCRT gives you the option of removing the date, if you want. If you do this, you can't add it back in. I don't find the dates at all useful, so I remove them, mostly.
- There's a checkbox labelled "Copy Filename from In-Game Name". This checkbox basically means that the filename on your computer that the costume is saved under will reflect the name that it shows up in within the tailor. You don't have to check this box if you have a different naming convention for your files than your costumes. However, be aware that if you don't check this box, and you also choose to lose the date from the end of the filename, you will end up overwriting files, as in the standard Cryptic design, the date is the only way Cryptic differentiates between two costumes for the same character. If you don't check this box, there's a box available for you to manually specific the filename for the costume.
- The program allows you to filter by gender (Male/Female/Both) and server (Live/Test). No, you can't look at BOTH Live and Test at the same time. At some point in the future, if I get really bored, I'll add a function to copy costumes between Live and Test, but for now, you're still stuck doing that by hand.
- I didn't put any fancy gamma viewing options in like Evangaline. It'll load the file when you click on the costume in the list, that's about it.
- You can back up your files as often as you want, but be aware - The back up process erases all previously backed-up costumes, so if you want a rolling archive, you'll have to manage that yourself.

Excellent! I will start playing around with this utility immediately!
EDIT: Couldn't get it to open, I tried it in every Cryptic related folder I had and kept getting a "Sorry, I don't know where to find costumes for that server type" message and then it crashes.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit if that helps.

@Nod - Thanks for the feedback. I've added a dialog window that allows you to tell the application manually where your CO Install folder is, in the case where it can't find it automatically from the registry. Still not entirely sure why it couldn't find yours. But also now, if it can't find the costume folder for Live or PTS, it'll tell you -where- it's trying to look (i.e. the directory path)
That, hopefully, might help.

Got it working now, woot.
For some reason I didn't have to use the new pointer window, it just worked.
Comment #1- Have the checkboxes stay checked after clicking Save Costume. I'm taking the dates off all of mine and I have to recheck for each one (unless I'm missing some way to do it batch style?)
Comment #2- Running the costume backup saved ALL the pictures in my screenshot folder, not just the costume files. For a shutterbug like me, that's a lot of extra unneeded hard drive space taken up :)

1. I guess they reset? I didn't do anything intentional to them either way, I guess that's windows default behavior. I'll stop it from doing that
2. Ah. I always forget that that's where CO stores it's screenshots, since I use FSCapture and FRAPS for my screenshot-taking needs and don't bother with the in-game screenshots. I'll edit it to only backup files that start with "Csotume_" since that's how Cryptic identifies them.
Thanks for the feedback!

I know this is about 6 months old, but with F2P now out, and a host of new players, I was hoping to ressurect this...
I just downloaded the 0.8 version of the app and got "Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application." message. I am on windows 7 x64, and it seems to be a .NET framework initialization error.
Any chance this can be brought up to speed? Does the original author still play?

Tried to run it as Administrator? That seems to work for me.

Oddly, it doesn't give the option (either right-clicking or through properties/compatability). I am re-downloading .NET 4.0 from M$ and will see if that helps.

EDIT: it was resolved by re-downloading .NET 4.0 from Microsoft's site...

I'm still here, mostly. It won't install the .NET framework for you (It's distributed via Sourceforge, and I don't think they support ClickOnce deployment)
So you will need to manually install .NET4.x yourself.
p.s. I haven't worked on it in forever :)
