some AoE powers have an advantage called Challenging Strikes, which is like a baby crippling challenge for AoE attacks, unfortunately none of the MA attacks as far as i recall actually have the advantage, something that is useful to have for a tank

Wouldn't Dex/Con be better for a tank than Dex/Ego? A tank is not that concerned with the damage you get from criticals, or am I missing something? You could also go with Defiance as your Primary Defense.

I'm trying out a Dex/Pre guy to see how that works out for me. BCR's heal scales with pre, so I could get something like 50% more from it with SS Pre while running an the MA offensive passive and a toggle. Part of being a tank in this game is keeping aggro on you, and without challenging strikes I'm thinking the only way to do that is to push out more damage than everyone else.
If you go Dex/Pre with a secondary focus on Str/Ego, you could probably run an Invuln build too...hmm....

What do you guys think about Dex/Con with defiance as a defensive passive?
