Those oft-overlooked little things called terms of service. I've quoted and highlighted my concerns in red on the relevant thread.

I wonder if we'll get the 1000 Day Vet reward before they butcher our forums. It's already, what, 23 days late from the anniversary?

The no warning, surprise switch-over on the STO forums seems to suggest they're very much in a rush to get us all PWEed up. Wonder if that same rush will extend to bringing us stuff that (hopefully) doesn't suck...

Already brainstorming on how to get my signature down to 500x100 without it looking terrible. Probably time for a new picture.

I wonder what they'll do for the requisite prefab forum avatars, since STO seems to have lost the ability to have custom avatars, I suspect we'll lose them here too.

I am extremely disappointed with the upcoming changes to STO. I've been pretty unhappy with STO, and Cryptic to a lesser extent, ever since PW got involved. I do not like PW nor do I wish to have a PW account. These recent changes pretty much did it for me and I don't think I will ever play STO again. To put things into perspective a bit.. I come from Pre-CU / CU / NGE SWG and even those changes weren't enough to get me to leave.

I really hope these changes don't find their way to CO but given the transparency between it and STO I think it's inevitable.

Change? Change can be good. Change can be awesome. Spec trees and on alert were a good change, even if the execution could have been better in areas and the transition could have been smoother.

But change needs to be in a direction of gain, not loss, and that is the problem we have here. STO's boards were a downgrade. It would be awesome if we were getting cool new board upgrades that allowed us to pose our characters for our avatar shots, let us set in game titles as our board titles, had an option to show our subscribed time, built in signature image rotating software, etc. What we're getting is the exact opposite, they're actually taking away features that are considered basic on other boards.

League of Legends is the only game I can think of with forums that don't support avatars or signatures, even SMNC's super simplistic boards do. Let me tell you, there's a good reason I don't support Riot anymore, and it's not completely unrelated to why their boards are such ass. It's a mindset, it's way of thinking, and stuff like what's happening over on the STO boards are a symptom of a larger problem being airlifted on top of us by PWE. Minimal product for maximum profit seems to be the way PWE operates given various trends.

Custom Avatars .. hm .. are not allowed in most MMOs i've played so far.

That should be now excuse that it is good to loose that feature, but just to note that other Companys don't
really have better Forums.

I was getting tired of these forums anyway. I think I may have a brain tumor. I'm starting to prefer /zone chat.

Also, two threads about this and not a squeak from the corporate mouthpiece reinforces what I already think about this sort of thing anymore.

I'm enjoying the game, but Cryptic is just terribly underwhelming anymore.

Most MMOs I play allow Custom Avatars.
