The notion that silver players are freeloaders is completely false. Silver are the people that are keeping the game afloat. Without them the game would fold.

Perfect World is an F2P cash-shop company. Period. The subscription piece of CO is a legacy from before they took over and they have absolutely no interest in catering to or supporting that piece of the business.

My points are: I disagree with F2P. Players who intially invested in the game with Subs are the ones who floated the game. If they had not the game would not have launched. It took subs to get it to F2P. The free ride occured when F2P was incepted. I have no problem, as I stated before in this thread, with free players buying the Freeform slot from the C-store at a reasonable price. You agreed with this statement. I also stated this almost a year ago. F2P players did bring new life into the game. No problems there. We were hemoraging players daily and number of instances were shrinking. But this business model was supposed to be about giving players a taste of the game so they would want to sub. Now we give them more reasons to no sub and to not try. Yet continually the difference between sub and non-sub is erroded. Subscribing players also pay large amounts into the PW/Cryptic coffers. I know I have spent more than $500 over the last 2 months or so. We also paid subs and LTS. Yet little or nothing is being added to increase the value of Gold subs. Instead, we have on line gambling for a chance to get something of value. Just put the stuff in the C-Store at a reasonable but competative price. I hope this clarifies it enough. You have always in the past been reasonable in your communications. I hope this helps. |
I suppose my main point of disagreement then is the highlighted part. This contradicts the dev statements at the time and is contrary to the basic model of FTP.
FTP is not about generating more subs, its about getting money from people who are not going to sub.
Keep in mind that it might be more accurate to say that subs, prior to FtP, slowed the inevitable collapse of the game rather than that they supported the game. Simply put, the subscription model failed here.
I agree with those, including yourself, that believe that the value of subscribing is eroding. I also think that Cryptic has written subscribers off in favor of the C-Store driven model. I would not be surprised at all to see the current trend continue, and expand. It seems pretty clear, to me, that Cryptic sees more money in the C-Store than in sub fees.

As to the black text, is that a typo for 'bet', or are you threatening him ?

All fixed.
Hes already rage quite 3 times. Then comes back restates the same point he just made in his last post and/or says something mean to another poster then rage quits again.
My black text is more me predicting the future, kinda like writing down your answer and putting it in an envelope.
My first black text was to show that FEELTHETHUNDER was just a bunch of hot air on his part. If you are going to quit a conversation then just quit dont say youre going to quit.
This prediction I will leave out in the open.
FEELTHETHUNDER will come back and make his same statement again and then say he will quit, only to come back and repeat.

Or do you have a position ?
The only two questionable things that I have seen FTT say here are:
1) FtP as intended to get people to subscribe. Ive seen other people say the same, but it is contradicted by Poz's statements at the time. Even so its a logical assumption to be made by someone who has likely not previously participated in a FtP game.
2) Silvers get a free ride.
Again, 1 is a logical assumption even if it is mistaken.
2, with the inclusion of the word, "most," would be completely accurate according to industry studies. The vast majority of free players in FtP games do not spend a dime. This is the definition of a free ride.
So, FTT's comment is incorrect only as it refers to exceptions to the rule, not the rule itself.
All that aside, if you keep attacking someone it does not grant you superiority when you say that you think that he will come back to defend himself against your barbs. Attempting to portray someone's attempts to defend themselves in a negative light is a bit odd (to say the least).

If someone takes it as a barb then that says more about them then about me.

I'm sure it's been touched on, but it is worth repeating - the game went F2P *because* the subs weren't enough. If the game had not gone F2P, there likely wouldn't be a CO anymore.
I don't think most people believe that Silvers are freeloaders - obviously there are many Silver players that choose not to pay into the game at all, but as a whole, I'm confident that Silvers contribute more money than subscribers - if this weren't the case, then the conversion to F2P would have failed and CO would have shut down.
I personally disagree with the random chance desirable items in the grab bags, but given the proliferation of them, they must be bringing in money for Cryptic & PWI. I just hope that the devs eventually introduce a direct-purchase option for FF Slots...
