Don't Want to Read Version: Yes, the nerfs are annoying and perhaps they make it too difficult for you. Nothing can be done, the game is still new.
You are NOT Superman
You are NOT Wolverine
You are NOT the Hulk
You are NOT Spiderman
You are NOT <insert other Super Hero here>
You are a digitial character loosely based upon the concept of being a Comicbook Character. In Comics books, your imagination is key. What you can imagine your Super Hero doing, they can probably do. Superman is damn near unkillable, short of a few things like Kryptonite and Doomsday. The Hulk, in some literature, can regenerate from a single molecule being left over. Wolverine is in a similar boat, but probably not as excessive.
In any case, the powers that Comicbook Super Heroes have CANNOT directly translate to an MMO without making it too powerful, or incredibly broken. Just imagine how broken it would be to have a real Superman clone as a player. What couldn't you do?
Champions Online is based upon the Champions Pen and Paper Roleplaying Game. Certain concepts have been translated over. In the PnP game, you have limitations to prevent you from being too powerful for the system. The same rules that you have as a player, the GM can use to create Villains and Henchman. In a Comicbook, your Henchman are normal humans; in most cases. In Champions PnP, they can have similar abilities to yourself.
Basically, the sooner people realize that Champions Online isn't a Comicbook; the sooner we can get some constructive feedback to Cryptic other than "wah, my build is broke. I'm quitting". Those types of posts don't really mean anything to a Dev.
As an example of good feedback/ideas:
To make the game more manageable, Cryptic should do the following:
- PvP Power Rules for PvP Zones: Basically, your power functions differently while in this zone.
- Retcons: Make an event that grants a free retcon. Limitations can be: difficulty, frequency it can be ran, or even the # of powers that you can retcon for free.
- Difficulty Level: Placing a difficulty level on "world spawn mobs" will be difficult and highly dangerous. Instead, increase the number of Lairs and Missions that take you to them. In doing so, you can give Lairs a toggle to increase, or decrease, the difficulty of the zone. Like a "WoW Heroic" zone.

Your Retcon idea is very good, I think if there was a mission you could run once a day and it would give you a free retcon token good for one power that would be alright. But frankly with the change in Economy we had the other day, I don't think it's as needed.
I do want Difficulty Levels to be added, but I want the level we are at right now to be L1 and I want it to get HARDER not easier (say boost the baddies up one level for each range of difficulty to start and we will see how that works for us).

This topic speaks nothing but truthyness. If onlypeople would realize that this is based off a pen and paper game where players are kept in check to create challange and fun! Just imagine how stressful it would be if our characters were actually super heros. No fun at all! :p
Mainly just posting here to get this back up,a nd bring attention to it. Bump, go!

I think most of our characters by endgame would actually stack up pretty well against Wolverine or Spiderman, if not Superman or The Hulk.

I've often wanted to drown my troubles
Loose them in the foaming bubbles
But alas my chances are dimming
As I can't get my wife to go swimming

Have you ever watches Smallville? Even Superman isn't Superman! I guess he hit the content gap during leveling.

Seriously though, I agree with you. We can't all be Cosmics. Imagine if people were allowed to be on par with the Green Lantern, or Silver Surfer. Too much power for this type of game. Even with that new DCUO game, they're making sure you can't become too powerful. In fact, you're actually an apprentice for other heroes. Or something like that.
If you want a superman-like character, take throw fire, cast it from your eyes, take an ice power for his breath, use beatdown, and make sure you have Flight. There are other ways to go about this, too (eye beams?).
