We’ve got a big feature coming out next week, but we want your help to test it before then. We can’t give too many details now, but here’s what you’ll want to bring with you to the PTS tomorrow:
1. A 5-man group of level 40 players. You can level up using the contact outside the Millennium City Powerhouse, or transfer your character from Live.
2. A Nemesis. This isn’t completely necessary, but it will definitely enhance your experience.
We'll provide more information tomorrow, but be ready for anything!

I might be too busy for testing tomorrow anyway, but it would be nice to know in case I can feng shui my schedule a little bit.

So your putting in the Nemesis dungeon............. you guys already told us about it, not much of a secret really. So it's going on test tommorow?

I've been able to up toons brought across via the transfer at the Degugger. However you can log in one night , create a toon to 40, fly/port/etc to the police station and make up a Nemi if you want too.

i hope they 5 mans Nemesis dungeons are hard. i love good challenges.
i mean hard as in you couldnt solo it with a superman build. like you can most of the other 5 mans.

Hmmm, letting a few things slip there since I just visited the Updated Archery Changes thread and it said that the changes would be stuck into test within the next couple days. Going to hope that this is inserted and will pop by for a peek.

Is this a "We must have a currently active Nemesis" or "We must have at least one Nemesis in our personal Rogue's Gallery" type deal here? I've locked up two, and I have not set up the third yet. I was waiting for more Nemesis content to start battling with more.

I hate that I missed both the Road Cone Hat and the Crash Test Dummy head just because I'm at work when you're doing this testing.

so you dont have to spoilt it for yourself

Because personally I'd rather wait for the official release so I can be surprised (although it won't be much of a surprise after that "subtle" hint). But if there's a costume piece then I'll most CERTAINLY participate! {drools} Coooostumes...

Yeah, I know that's the whole point of a test server. But I didn't pay a $200 dollar subscription fee so I can test the game. I'm happy to submit the occasional bug report in live when it's been missed by the dev team, but I receive no enjoyment from testing bugs. I like to play the game with everything working as intended.
That said I know there are heaps of people who get great enjoyment out of testing for bugs, or simply getting sneak peaks. I'm just not one of those people. So if there's some additional reward for this, I might hop on depending on what it might be. If not, I'll leave the spoilers to those who like that sort of thing.
It would be an effort for me to even find 4 other players to join me, who would want to take part in this, as I'm in AUS and our ISPs are from the Dark Ages, limiting all of our bandwidth, most of us only having about 10 gig a month for both uploading and downloading (I pay a high premium for 60 gigs a month). So it's asking a lot from them to use up 20% of their monthly allotment downloading the test server, to test something that will be available to them in a few weeks.
Hence my curiosity in whether there will be some other reward being offered besides an early viewing...

On the PTS you can level auto level to 40 by talking to the guy in front of the powerhouse in MC. And then you can visit the Police Station and make up a Nemesis, even if you don't have one on live.
What I'd like to know for when it goes live is if it will still work if you have less than five people.
So if we bring say three, will it still function, just with three Nems instead of five?

Will see. Best way to check is to transfer then go to the Nemesis terminal by the PD.

I auto-upped a toon to 40 and it said "Character Slot Unlocked!" I looked at the character screen and it seems true.
Will this be a feature when the patch goes live or is that just something that will happen on PTS?

its part of a perk called "ICON" you get when you hit 40, for those already 40, it auto gives it
keep in mind, it also gave a free retcon
also, the patch is up, the patch is live
you "queue" for the new instance, you dont enter it like andrith/mandragalore
it IS level 40 required
you dont need a nemesis, if you dont have a current one, it puts a generic Master Villian in its place
nemesis do carry over, you dont need to make a new one unless you currently dont have one

Oh hot....Auto grouping like the Crisis Zones? That could be fun (or an exercise in patience).

I have a 40 and zoned and all on the live server and no Icon. It's on the PTS but not on the live server it seems. I was wondering if that will be on live as well when the patch goes live.

Not a guarantee. I've seen things on a test server not go live while other parts do.

Whew! Thank heavens! So I can look forward to a guitar back, cape for chest piece, and guns and swords on back and legs (respectively) in Live. That's good to know - I really don't want to spoil the event by completing it all in the Play Test. Me and Spoilers don't get along very well.

I understand but I was wondering if the Icon perk and it's benefit was also something we can look forward to on the live server in the near future as well. I'm hoping that Daeke or another person can confirm though. I'd hate to be hyped for this and then find out it's just a PTS thing, ya know? lol

I guess now is a good time to complain about the need for 5 members on at once to start a supergroup. (Sure, why not.) Please don't force me to be sociable. If I want to be, I am. But otherwise I would like access to the content I'm paying for without jumping through hoops. I'm a CoH player (5+ years) and I assume you want my business. So focus on improving on things from CoH. Don't under perform. In CoH you can start a group with one person and add folks as you see fit. You can have a base all to yourself. (I have a friend states away I play with normally. See! I can be sociable!)
BTW, I'm guessing you'll need 5 people for a base since you need 5 for Super Group.

Just tested it, and here are my thoughts. I loved the whole theme. I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't tried it out but I will say that I think it'll be a great hit when it hits live. Some thoughts though is I was hoping for a confrontation where the group of heroes faced off against the nemesises at least once, without any other minions or such. Maybe a mission could be made later that allows for that. Another thing is that in case it isn't done already, perhaps tieing the chests that appear after each defeated Nemesis to the owner of that Nemesis if possible since it may end up possible for someone who is greedy to grab more than one chest. Either that, or you could have it like the one UNITY mission with the multiple Qliphothic auras and each person only able to grab one. This is just in case it isn't already implimented as I didn't want to try grabbing more than one. Lastly, I'm guessing that you'll have to have the one Nemesis that you want to battle in this mission be the one you currently have outside of the jail. It would be nice to select which one to face off against, but I can understand if that's not currently possible.

I'm a 6+ year vet of CoX and I can tell you, while CO has some neat things, it falls flat on its face for an over all comparison to CoX.
I play tested the Nemesis Lair last evening and it blew chunks so badly that I'm glad they haven't released it yet. It was horrible.
Still can't figure out the whole story line. I jumped from U-HQ in to a cell in a castle or dungeon. For the first 10 minutes every thing was fun. You start a jailbreak/riot, but then after that it all goes downhill.
Still can't figure out how come my Nemesis is working for Dr D and why my Nemesis is sitting around in a dungeon waiting for me and the other heroes to come beat her up. Typically I envisioned her to be a loner and not work for others. But Cryptic in its almighty wisdom seems to have other plans for her.
The other issue is the battle with Dr D. I don't get the having to open five locks to get in to a throne room where Dr D is sitting on his butt waiting for us just so he can start a monologue on how he is the "Alpha and the Omega.. blah blah blah".
Why is Dr D just sitting on his butt waiting for us? Why isn't he actually doing some thing? It would be better if there was some one or people we could rescue and then escape from the dungeon. We don't actually think we are going to defeat Dr D? I'm mean, that would be silly to think we could go toe to toe with him.
Still, the whole idea of our Nemesis's and Dr D just standing around, well, it's lame and weak and Cryptic can do better than this pile of dung.
The battle is also weak and lame. Dr D has a billion hit points and can attack all 5 heroes with enough damage to take out another 40 heroes. We couldn't see the point in the whole battle because Cryptic still has not fixed the issue of what the heck a tank is; oh yeah, forgot, they don't have "classes". Well they don't have the power sets either so go figure.
I'll leave Cryptic with the following quote:
"I don't get it. It's a building that turns in to a robot?"

Cryptic isn't actively involved in CoX anymore. They split from them and the remainder formed Paragon Studios. This is old news that happened back in 2007.

I believe there is a failure in your logic or comprehension of the very thing you are asking for here.
Why would you need 5 people to start a supergroup? Well if there is only ONE of you, it wouldn't be a GROUP now would it? You already have the ability to earn titles for your character as a solo hero, creating a 'supergroup of one' is just silly.
If your complaint is that you'd like your solitary hero to be able to build a superbase for itself (if/when that features comes about in CO) then I'll agree with you on the need to offer that. After all, Batman doesn't have a team of supers contributing to the Batcave, so there is precedent that solo-heroes deserve bases too as long as they work hard enough to earn the resources to build them. Of course being a part of a group will make it easier to afford a superbase due to players pooling their resources, it shouldn't require a group to make a superbase however.
The development of 'single member groups' in CoH is new to me... initially and for a quite a long time it also required multiple charter signatures to validate the creation of a supergroup.

I have been playing CoH since June 2004 and I have never seen or heard of that. Are you sure you're not confusing it with another game?

CoX never required multiple signatures to form an SG. And I started there in beta. I know of some who created SG's alone just to avoid the spam blind SG invites from the start. And I was one of those until I actually joined a couple after teaming with someone in the SG first.
