View Full Version : Don't lose Energy on missed Haymakers.

Hey guys, I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but I haven't seen this anywhere.
All you Might heroes (and possibly other melee, I don't know) are familiar with whiffing a Haymaker and losing the Energy when an enemy takes a step back. Well I recently discovered that when an enemy takes that step back, if you tap (or hold) Shift to block before the Haymaker goes out, you'll get all your Energy back. It takes a bit of reflex to pull it out, especially if your charge bar is almost full, but it's really satisfying seeing all that Energy come back. :)
Anyways, just thought I'd pass this along to those that don't know!

Really? I'll definitely have to try this out, hopefully it works with a 360 controller (don't see why it wouldn't, unless the one trigger acting as a "shift" key for your powers messes with it).

Oooooh. I like this.
I wonder if it's intended, or if it's a bug ;)

Probably a bug, but I'm hoping it isn't as it would give a great way to avoid people from blowing their energy on jerks who teleport away last-minute or something.

Good to hear blocking cancelling out power activation can also be put to good use. Bug or not...I always figured it was just giving block immediate priority to potentially save your life.

Now if only we could actually get it to block when I'm being wailed on by 3 Master Villains instead of CLOBBERCLOBBERCLOBBERCLOBBERCLOBBERCLOBBERCLOBBERC LOBBER when my pinky's pressing the shift key so hard the knuckle's gone white.

Thanks for the tip!
And it does explain why so many powers "whiff" on me right before a block.

Good info! I will keep this in mind.

It probably works with all charge up powers, if you hit block before you let go of it.

I actually haven't had nearly as much trouble with that since I started using block as a toggle as described here: http://forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=77643

What do you call mouse button 4 in a bind? Mbutton4? I want to use that bind you quoted but I use MB4 instead of shift (which I have as "Target_Enemy_Near".

On my piece of crap mouse, I call it missing. :o
But it probably is mapped by your mouse software to some key or combination you set there.

I mean I currently used the UI to bind mouse button 4 as my block. I'd like to set it up as a toggle like that thread suggests, but when typing the /bind, I don't know what the game calls MB4.
So I want /bind <mouse button 4> "PowerTrayExec 1 16" maybe it is just "mouse button 4"?
I guess I'll have to test.
