My theory on the Powertrainers.
"Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach."
So, with that as the premise, and given that Powertrainers can teach anything, it only follows that they can't do anything.
Powertrainers are...powerless. That's why they hide 50 miles below the Earth's crust in steel bunkers that can only be accessed by teleportation gates.
Why do you think they don't charge for training? 'Cause they want lots of superheros around in case Dr Destroyer shows up. They can't defend themselves, so...
Which is an interesting idea for a story. Since heroes can't really get powerful without a trainer, wouldn't it make sense to whack the trainers?

Seriously, I feel your pain. The new look is offensive to at least three of my five senses. But, and this is really your final warning, don't say his name again. His name is unspeakable filth, and you disrespect your entire family by using it. Kittens are killed, babies are slapped, and horses are sexually abused every time you speak his name. And, every time that foul, unspeakable name is spoken, someone you care about loses an inch off their ankles and gains a foot and a half on their breasts.

Think about how ****ed off they are at the Powerhouse management right now. "Up to now, we've had you wear comfortable, functional gym clothes. From now on, it's company policy to make you wear these fruity spandex outfits."
Superheroes can wear whatever they want and get away with it, but dressing up these guys who work in a gym and sparring center in clothes like that? Just ASKING to get them beat up.

I have to register my dissatisfaction with the new trainers as well. The old costumes added a bit of whimsical humor and wasn't totally thematically wrong. You don't need to have superpowers to be a drill sergeant and run people through training circuits. Bring back the old costumes, just without the knuckle cracking.

I did these a while ago as a joke for some members of another forum:
Liefieldian Abomination (http://www.inktank.com/images/CO/Abomination.jpg) - the mullet isn't "mullety" looking enough in my opinion. Plus I made one eye white and glowy, but should have added the starburst pattern around it.
Liefieldian Ideal (http://www.inktank.com/images/CO/Ideal.jpg) - Liefieldian female. I couldn't quite get that back breaking, tiny toothpick waist. And the ankles and feet will only go so small in the CC. And apparently feamles need more pouch options.

Very incisive - that's exactly what I hate about them, though I wouldn't have thought about it in those terms without your nudge. They even force the trainers to all have the same haircut. You know some companies would love to do that to their employees.
I like the idea of an in-game week-long event to take out the evil corporation responsible. After the event, change the guys back to comfortable, gym-friendly clothes. And let them choose their own stylist for chrissake.

I think you need to use each costume on this character to make slight alterations to the outfit to show a lack of continuity (swapping which arm is bionic, which eye glows, where the pouches are, random build variations) and then randomly flip between them to mess with people's minds. :)

Well, at least they don't have the patented Liefield "Pointy Knee of Doom". (Credit for pointing this out goes to my friend Jen...) But they do have the constant-fist-clenching-to-hide-lack-of-basic-anatomy-skills disorder. I'm no artist. But I do like good art.
As for the trainers, if you lose the belt the outfits aren't all that bad. Although honestly, I always felt the trainers were a little too bright and happy. Couldn't we make them a little more serious. They are training world saving superheros.
Archived Post

I really think the trainers should come in a couple categories
the failed hero washouts (the mighty pink guy, the electric vibe, the hero of unfortunate name) the heroes that the public or enemies just couldn't take seriously or were just ineffective (like robin in that old live action batman tv show). They have some skills to train, if just the ever important people take you seriously if you have a better costume lesson.
the retired hero: got old, got sick, caught a crippling condition from a Nemesis's attack, something that even hero meds and cybernetics can't cure..., or were made incorporeal/ unable to affect the world except via communication. they literally can't be a hero anymore and have chosen to teach others
the hero in hiding: got too famous, or secret Identy was compromised, or for the safety of their family they had to disapper... or they jsut manged to **** off a country with nukes and are actually considered a super villian somewhere.. so they are in hiding in underground teleport only bunkers
the non hero relatives/friends/family/creators of heros who are basically in witness protection or are so brilliant they have to be kept somewhere safe.
in which case I would expect a lot more variation in the powerhouse trainers looks and attitudes... and I'd also expect some of them to be itching for a fight and to be the 1 vs 1 live fire trainers whenever they make that part of the powerhouse.
right now they are sorta like telio's clones with less original dialogue.

The only good that ever came of Liefield is how a friend and I used to muse over how Liefield characters must socialise. Since the man has to draw an action pose of everything, and can't do calm/natural for the life of him, for Liefield, such concepts do not exist, they are eemposseebleh!
I could just imagine it now...

I'd rather just see a robot trainer, or perhaps take the whole concept of "trainer" out of it, because with the exception of mentor characters, that doesn't seem to flow with comic heroes.
Instead just have scientists who are measuring your achievments. "Well, last time you came in, you were pressing ten tons and could shoot a get of flame from your hand. Lets see if we can push those abilities more!"
You could even spice up things a bit more buy having the floaty lotus guy magic trainer, the lab coat science trainer, the grease covered mechanical trainer, another floaty psi trainer, and the commando skills trainer.
If you want flavor, run to one of the appropriate 4. If you just want your level rewards, run to the nearest/least crowded one.

Think about it... don't pick a fight with one of those guys. Seriously.
It's not that trainers are supposed to be more powerful than you are. They are just there to help you unlock your potential. They might not even be super-powered themselves, but possess a great knowledge of how super-powered beings generally tick and so know a variety of techniques and training regimens to help them unlock their potential. This game clearly needs more pouches.

I wish they were still stood behind desks or something now though. They kinda look like they are just stood there in a big empty warehouse. PH just seems so cold and sterile now :(

There wasn't a "no-feet" option. I tried making them really, really tiny, but as small as I could make them, they were still there.

There was totally a "Liefield" character, used the peglegs for no feet. everything was wrong about the character.
However by the pictures in this topic I can sorta see what was going on, however I am still never-the-less confused.
Oh and old power trainers were noice.
I would not want to mess with them, they know ALL the powers, advangates, talents, and have all the super-stats.

They look fine to me. I've decided you're all wrong in the head and moved on.

The answer should probably be found in compromise: a variety of powerhouse trainers in homage costumes from different eras of comic books, keeping the black, white and red with lightning bolt theme throughout. Male and female, some perhaps with pointed ears or insect heads.
This.
Clone Trainers is a bit funny.
Though, TBH, I hardly noticed the costume change. I guess I never paid attention to their looks all that much. :p
