Unlock Celestial powerset "weeks before"?

So I just got the CO Newsletter in my inbox, and something seemed odd...

1. Bloodmoon is coming out on the 27th
2. It includes the Celestial powerset
3. By defeating the 13 undead heroes, you can unlock the celestial powerset "weeks before it is released to the public."

Now, I'm assuming these undead heroes aren't going to appear until the 27th... So when is the Celestial powerset being released to the public? Not with Bloodmoon?

Well... yeah, that'd be the inference. Probably a nice way for them to sort of beta test it with a limited population.

I received the newsletter too, is this true? That would be awesome if we can get the celestial power set before it goes public. My main toon is waiting lol.

Na, the official Cryptic newsletter is notorious for spreading blatently fabricated information on the game they develop. They're just cool like that.

Makes perfect sense. That also means it will force people to actually team up to rekill these guys or release them from eternal bondage. Sounds smart. I'll do anything for this set. I can already see too many people using it, and it will make Blood Moon events rather simple with all the healing. I have a healer anyway, I swear this set was made for her. lol

I find this disconcerting. It was always said that celestial would come with Blood Moon, not that you'd have to unlock it. It really depends upon how difficult it is to defeat the 13. If the time window is too limited and I'm unable to get it done, I would be ticked.

I'm fairly certain they will release it for all of us to play and use. If not, then they really are stupid...but I can't seem them doing something like to alienate their playerbase (further then the Spet 1 patch). Worse case, I expect it to be 2 weeks before the general public can use it.

They outright say that you're only unlocking it before it's released to the public, but I would still hate to have to wait just because I was unable to accomplish the task in a potentially short window of opportunity. This was the case for the Invasion event, but was rectified by handing the reward to all participants regardless of their progress in achieving the reward.

You missed the part where you unlock this DURING Blood Moon event. Everyone else gets it done time later.

lets face it, we all know they'll be legendary (atleast) and more than likely for lv 40 heroes,
best get levelling my toon now!

If their events on COX are any indication, they'll be pretty easy to find and beat. That's assuming that the set isn't unlocked for everyone at the end of the event.

I suppose they could do something where those that unlock it during the event also get some goodie - an action figure, a special power replacer, a special minor power, whatever.

Either way, I wouldn't worry about getting it - most surely, you will no matter what you do.

My guess is they will test it on Public Test Shard and if you beat the 13 there you get it live or as others say you can earn it during the event buy beating the 13. Which may or may not be hardcore as I would guess there 13 would be spread across the level range and Hardcore may be just being at the level cap by the time it goes live.

I agree with you. Cryptic is like Michael Scott, but with snide comments from their customer service people and community reps.
