Quick question with a potentially complex answer. But first, some background.

MMO's are very community based games, and one of the best resources available to those communities are the wikis. In addition to the hard data, like Quest Chain info, items listings, guides, etc the wikis for an MMO have a wealth of background lore info, usually accumulated from a variety of sources.

However, Champions is based on a PnP game, and PnP game companies have been notoriously strict about keeping free lore info off the web. Technically, the game setting is owned by Cryptic and leased back to Hero Games

And so my question is thus: How much of the Hero Universe Lore can we put up on the CO wiki? Just stuff that appears in game or on this website? Or stuff from the source books as well? What about for characters that have been mentioned in passing, can we expand their pages with sourcebook info?

I suspect the relevance to CO of almost anything published for the p-n-p is questionable until demonstrated otherwise, so why bother?

I would treat sourcebook material like wiki's for literary works...a plot synopsis without specific dialogue.

For example, you could create a wiki entry about the destruction of Detroit and give a synopsis of the story, but you could not copy the actual written material from the sourcebook.

Which Wiki are you referring too?

Which wiki should I be referring to? :0

The one I know is on Wikia, which makes it inherently bad... But it looks prettier than the one in your link.

Which one is more active?

The wikia site is a joke. Their entries are bland, basic, and boring. I always go with community sites and try and help them out whenever possible. Better to see one of them strive then some corporate or multi-game site that doesn't care about the game.

If you are basing things on how they look, then by all means stick with the wikia.

At a guess anything referenced in game would be fair game out with that im not sure how relieved it would be as i belie cryptic tweaked bits of source material here and there, But as long as you were not reproducing it word for word you should be ok.

But if your really after a definitive answer tho best bet would be to PM a Mod and ask them.
