And what is this Apocalypse Takofanes refers to? That answer will come sooner than you think.

Er, there already is an Eclipse- one of the Crowns of Krim. Might wanna change that name to Corona or something :P

Interesting. Interesting indeed.
But I'm curious... What can we expect in this update? What can we expect for rewards, features, and the like? I know it's going to probably be a lot of quests, but will there be anything to set it apart from the other quests we have out there?

And is this an event that will only be around for a limited amount of time, or is thisa new feature that will be around forever?
When I first heard about it I got the idea that it was a new area (or something similar) and this would be around forever more. But now I'm not so sure...

I believe all the listed characters are from the Champions IP, though I'm not certain--a number of them definitely are though, including Vanguard.

It's strange that those names weren't blocked in the name filter though, especially if they had plans to bring them in as characters.

Why block them, when we can already have nearly any name we desire thanks to the @namegoeshere system? Being reanimated characters dead for a decade, it's logical that the names would have been picked up by others.

Vanguard is in the PnP RPG. He was a Superman homage who died during the Battle of Detroit. This is one reason the battle happens at close to the same time that Superman was killed by Doomsday.

Bella Strega is a character I created 20 years ago for a Champions tabletop game. Part of her origin does in fact involve a vampire attack (as well as Bene Gesserit style ancestral memories, but hey).

So now, there's Twilight, and this other Bella, with a vampire stalker. Stoopid Twilight.

There is no stealing from DC here, this is related to what happened before in the Champions Universe. In "Conquerors, Killers And Crooks" you learn about his past and how he animates the dead. In "Champions Universe" on page 102 you learn how he murdered and reanimated people to create his undead horde. It specifically states that he killed Archangle, Corundum, Delphi, Hyperkinetic Man, Tightwire, Flechette, and Goldfire the first time heroes attempted (and failed) to stop him.

I wouldn't worry about having the same name as one of the superheroes. In DC/Marvel lore, this is not seen as a bad thing.

Currently, in the Young Avengers, are is a girl named Hawkeye, even though the original Hawkeye Clint Barton has been seen alive again and sometimes sports his bow.

In DC, there are 3 people named 'The Flash", Barry, Wally, and Bart.

Let's not forget about those that have taken the place of the original superhero since the demise of them. Bucky is now Captain America, **** Grayson is now Batman.

So, don't worry about adopting the name of an old Superhero, or a Superhero that has died. It fits perfects within comic book lore.

He's the equivalent of Superman. And yes, Shadowboxer and Tiger and the heroic Eclipse and all of them are existing Champions characters. Mostly 5th edition. The Eclipse in Canada is from 4th, originally.

The whys and hows and wheres were easy. Surely one of the biggest events in all of Champions history is the Battle of Detroit, a battle that took place more than a quarter century ago, where the heroes of the day banded together against the greatest menace the world had ever known: the genocidal supervillain known as Doctor Destroyer.

In 1992, Destroyer obliterated the city of Detroit and killed thousands. With years to prepare, his next attack is sure to put the entire planet in peril.

Ok, I liked the lore, but there's a wee bit of a problem with timing that I have. A quarter century is twenty-five years. So if Detroit was destroyed in 1992, that would place the current year of the game at 2017, at least (considering it was supposed to be more than a century ago).

Thing was, I thought the game was supposed to be set in today's time (rather than 7-8 years from now).

That's just a minor detail, though. I liked the background story (I wonder when the party gets started?) :)

I'm going to play 18 wheel pro trucker on Nintnendo gamecube while I wait for them to fix this. XFire says it's a better game than Champs anyway.

I'm totally new to Champions and don't know anything about the lore before the online game. Thanks for the lore update and helping us that don't know who these people are and why this is important feel like we can get excited and involved in what's coming. Really cool! :D

This, along with the first appearance of the Marvel Zombies in 2006.

Believe it or not, whether you want to compare it to "Marvel Zombies" or "Blackest Night", Champions had this in their game before either of the above two storylines existed in their comic universes.

No one is ripping off anyone here. They are taking an idea nearly as old as mythology, putting their own little spin on it, and inserting it into their little fantasy world, just as many others did before them.

YEs, Vanguard was one of the hero who fought in the battle of Detroyer. He was one of those who went into space to stop the meteors, used up all his power to stop the biggest one, then fell to earth and burned up in the atmosphere. The zombie is an imposter. ^_^

I had made a character called Blood Moon 2 weeks ago. So then I see that title and thought, oh thanks, if it isn't bad enough that people can run around all being Neo, the Devs are at it too. But after reading about it I am fine ofc as it's not a ingame character. An ingame character would of meant I would of had to delete I suppose.

Nah, it's not them, it's the attempted invasion of Tyrannon in 2017 which forces Witchcraft to drain most of magic out of this reality to threaten to kill all of his nigh infinite shards of self at once. With the loss of magic, people become normal by 2022 and Takofanes faces his final and true death. There are no more supers until the year 3000 when Koval breeches the dimensional barriers and restores magic to our dimension.

That is unless Cryptic retcons Galactic Champions' timeline, something Marvel and DC have been known to do to their 31st century titles quite often.
