So, this was down in the Technical Issues forum, but as nobody seems to share the issue there, I thought I'd take my chances up here....

It's really rather strange. CO is the only program in which I have this problem - and it was perfectly fine until the patch on the 10th. After that... Well, anytime I get into the game and get to a point where a sound is supposed to be played (Generally when selecting a character, or moving to a loading screen), I get a noisy 'beep' and/or a 'tearing' sound in my headphones before the rest of the sound in-game cuts out completely and entirely until the game is restarted.

In short: I get a few seconds of sound at the title screen before it 'glitches' out and stays gone until the game is shut down. My drivers are up-to-date; older drivers didn't help; my sound configuration is precisely the same as it was when it worked; CO is the only program that does this; it was fine until the patch on the 10th; the game is unplayable without sound; nobody seems to have any ideas on this and a google search turns up no similar issues for other programs.

Anyone have any ideas? I've really run my entire system through the ringer trying to fix this to no avail. Any kind of work-around I can find would be perfect: even if it involves going out to a local electronics store and buying a new sound card. (I'm currently running on a Creative X-FI Xtreme Gamer).

Jay: Try lowering your Anti-Aliasing setting in-game down to 4x (if you have it higher). This solved my problem, and I havn't the faintest clue as to why. Let's see if this is an actual workaround.

Did you submit a ticket for this? If not, could you post your dxdiag as an attachment?

I sent a couple of tickets on this, actually. One with the initial problem; and another with the work-around that's been doing fine for me thus far. I'll scrounge up a DXdiag here shortly, anyway.

So is everyone that is having this problem using Windows 7?

if it helps at all, I run win 7 64 bit (release version), using a creative x-fi titanium pci express card. Max graphical settings and no issues. May be specific cards only?

Can everyone who has no audio on Win 7 post their dxdiags here? We do not officially support Win 7 yet since it is only a release candidate, but I would like to stay on top of any potential problems that may come up when it is released in a few months.

I have the same configuration. Which, by the way, is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 RTM, which is not the release candidate.

...and I have no audio issues whatsoever. :)

The problem doesn't appear to Windows 7 in and of itself.. in fact, until Jay posted, I thought I was seemingly the only person having this problem.

Megablaster, you can download the Win7 Enterprise client 90-day trial from here (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/cc442495.aspx?ITPID=wtcfeed) if you want to do testing against the RTM version of the OS. :)

Edit: This is not a pirated copy or anything, it's the trial package straight from MS TechNet.

I haver the same issue. Only difference is that i am on 32 bit win 7.
Sound was perfectly fine until the last patch then it stopped completely. I get no sound at all not even the blibs described earlier.

Hi all, i found the following while investigating sound problems on my win 7 system.

Control Panel -> Sound -> Playback, the install of the sound drivers had put a lot of WsAudio_Device items in and marked them as default. Not knowing what they were for, and i still dont, i disabled them all and set output to speakers only.

I now have sound working again in the game. I hadn't noticed but my media player also had not been working correctly and this is also now fixed.

Don't quote me 100% on this but I believe certain nVidia chipset MOBOs are having issues with creative soundcards if you have more than 2GB RAM on Windows 7. I know that sounds quite specific but I was informed from a friend who is into knowing all that stuff as I was thinking about upgrading to windows 7 and I have a creative soundcard. Im sure a google search could verify this.
