Hello guys, let me preface this by saying I've been a gamer since I got my first Pong System from Sears and continue avidly to present. I've seen alot of trends come and go. I see some bad ones cropping up now that I'd like to bring to light, as I think it may help you understand what's happening here. I could go on forever citing examples of how THE GAME WHICH SHALL NOT BE NAMED! (which shall henceforth be referred to as TGWSNBN) is responsible for most of it, but basically, at some point in gaming history, player death became the developers fault.

Now sometimes it is, but in this case I dont think it is. My friends and I are enjoying this game immensely, and I would hate to have it dumbed down to the level of TGWSNBN where you're rewarded for simply showing up. Those folks learned the lessons taught by Eddie Murphy's comedy carreer. That although you may sacrifice artistic integrity, appealing to a larger audience is far more profitable. (That's ok Eddie, we still got Coming to America.) Hey, fine, let 'em have it, but there's gotta be something for us folks who actually wanna put some effort in, I was hoping this would be one of those places. And please note by effort I do not mean time, by effort I mean THINKING, and ADJUSTING to whats happening. "Ok that didn't work, let me try this, not, ok that didn't work, please make it so it does."

*END PERSONAL OPINION BEGIN PURPOSE OF POST*

I've heard people in general scream, "THS GAME IS STUPID I JUST KEEP DYING!!!!" When I send them a tell asking which defensive power they've chosen, they answer, "Oh, so I HAVE to take a defensive power?". Lemme put it this way, Batman dodged Darseid's Omega Beam, Superman can take tank shells to the chest. Without those abilities (Invulnerability + Lightning Reflexes) they'd be smears on the pavement, just like some players. YES you need a defensive ability. If you continue to die, try this...

1. What happened? Why did I die?
2. Is there anything I can do about that? Is there a power that fits into my character idea that could solve this issue?
3. Ask Questions. Maybe I missed something obvious.
4. If after attempting all logical solutions you still fail, perhaps an ability is flawed. After all if you took Taser Arrow to stop runners from getting additional mobs to assist them (which is a consideration you should have made at character design) and it fails to stop the runner. Then it's a design flaw, you knew the problem, you chose an appropriate solution, and it didn't work. Feel free to bring it to the developers attention.

So, if the community is in at all in agreement with me, which may or may not be the case, please post your questions here. Don't be shy, plenty of folks are having a hard time. It'd be great if the folks NOT having a hard time would be kind enough to lend there advice here and answer any questions you may have so that the game doesnt get "Age of Conan'd" in about 3 months. Or worse... we end up with something like TGWSNBN......

Remember you may argue that in the Head Start you felt "super" and that's how a superhero is supposed to be, bouncing henchmen off cars. But Superheroes also don't quit. So before you say the game is broken, try a little harder first, or ask for help. Even Superman does.

Heres Hoping. <3 Brick

My goodness, things fall down fast here.

I'm inclined to largely agree. I'd never ask for this game to be like the days of TMNT on the NES where you would swear that the game was punishing you, but death in this game is already fairly lightweight in its impacts. Screaming that death is frequent and harsh demonstrates a lack of forethought in builds.

If you plan accordingly and don't build yourself a glass cannon, you can survive quite a bit. It just takes a little time and thought on how you want to approach it. Too many people seem too used to death being a non-issue (and like I said, the DP in this game is little more than a slap on the wrist). If you want to build a glass cannon, the inevitable must be prepared for (or find a tank).

That said, if something genuinely isn't working right (like Field Surge before the recent fix), it needs to be brought up, and there are issues like that.
