View Full Version : Currently lvl 17 Might. Which power to take next?

As the title says, I'm currently a Level 17 Might character. I haven't dipped into any other pools except to pick up Invul. I have a blast with my current build as is and I can solo pretty much most things. However, I'm unsure of what to take next. I've tried Shockwave in PH but not sure how much I would use it with the CD.
I wouldn't mind getting another power from another pool; I've just stuck with Might since all the powers so far have been fun. I kind of wish I had Ret-coned out of Beatdown but that was when the Ret-con prices were way too high for me and I couldn't afford it. However, once the free respec comes out for Headstart characters, I would be willing to use it to respec out of that and anything else that I should avoid.
Currently, my char is lacking in ranged attacks. I was considering taking Ice Wall for the snare effect so it would hopefully help in PvP or some other power for PvP. Or would taking something like Condemn work better? Any suggestions?

I don't know if a straight answer is sufficient enough. I have found it better to have a PVP-based Might character and a PVE based character. This is the way to go (for me) until the retcon prices are more manageable. Here's what I currently use within PVP for a Might character without going into other powers except Invulnerability.
PVP Invulnerability Build
Builds Defiant slowly, don't rush into the fight!
Crippling Challenge disallows blocking for 10 seconds.
Shockwave (Leg Rumbler) takes away travel powers.
Mighty Leap Roots.
You will get focus fired on quickly, so be alert!

To further on this discussion, it's mighty difficult (pun intended XD) to PVP as a predominantly Might hero. With the current imbalances of some of the powers within other lines, and the inefficiency (energy-wise) of our attacks I believe lend us more to a supportive role.
Yes we can take a beating, but only for so long. Until the later levels, picking up those big crates to hurl at the flyers (or just about anyone) to take away flight momentarily can help big time. The PVP build I listed above seems to be the standard way to go for Might heroes.
Stay in the fringes of battle, set up the use of your powers properly and you can help rake up that Kill Count for your team. A well timed Beatdown and especially Shockwave can be devastating to the enemy.

Take Shockwave. Make sure you hold down the button when you use it, to maintain it. Aim it at a group of 3-5 henchmen, with enough endurance to maintain it through the whole activation time, and watch as it instantly becomes your favorite power. Not only does it just *look* like a superstrength power, you can't argue with its results.
Testing it on the Powerhouse dummies just doesn't do the power justice.
Edit: Reading comprehension for the win! Sorry, didn't notice right away that you were asking about pvp. I have no idea how Shockwave works in pvp... but man, do I love it for pve. :D

Shockwave is great in PVE and PVP.
PVE
Taunt, pull, strafe (and block) to group them together then Shockwave away. The downside is the beating you can take quickly if not careful. All the deaths to Shockwave maintaining are more than worth the shear pleasure of the power. xD
PVP
Strafe around crowds and hit Shockwave when folks are at 2/3 to 1/2 life or a pesky person is running around quickly. Leg Rumbler takes away travel powers and if fully maintained the knockdown is great. As long as you have the target your after selected, a Mighty leap root followed by a Beatdown block remover makes them fall face down quickly after a Haymaker or Uppercut spam.

Thanks guys, sounds like I will be going with Shockwave. It did have a pretty wide cone in the PH which was really nice. On that note, should I also work in Mighty Leap somehow? I wasn't much of a fan of it in PH but it does sound like a situational power with the root. It would be nice if things in the PH moved and fought some instead of just crash test dummies with alot of HP's. It would make choosing powers much easier.

You can leap out of some roots/holds with might leap so if you are going might pvp, then I'd say it was a must have.

There is a room where some of the dummies do run around in a circuit.
Mighty Leap is great to close the gap and root/snare someone, but that's about it. You can also put Crippling Challenge on it, which has benefits in both PVE and PVP. Mighty Leap and Beatdown are the only two powers within the Might framework which are able to have Crippling Challenge attached.
