Sword and sorcery concept help needed

My concept is this:

A sword based melee (single or dual) that uses storm sigils and other dot related powers to achieve soloability. I intend using regen and force block to live and gather energy to kill.

Which is better: single or dual blade? Any other tips?

If you want to AoE, Dual Blades is better.

There really is no better IMO. I have a straight up DB and a SB/Force mixed character and both have their pros and cons. If you want constant AOE damage then go DB. If you want to use CC on some while focusing your attentions on 1 enemy at a time then go Single.
