View Full Version : Completely invincible in pvp ! explain me how its possible ?

I saw a guy in hero game today, not naming him with such defense the whole team could not damage it, not even denting the health , wich is quite odd after all the defensive nerfs , so i noted the buffs he was using but i dont understand what gives such bonus
Buffs were beautiful chi, mindful reinforcement, invulnerability.
So can anyone explain what makes this combo able to withstand so much ?

most likely he was also stacking con/str with that as well. There are a couple of people out there like that. It really depends on the lvl that you find yoruself in. I am in the 40 bracket now, and there are a couple of really OP players, who are almost impossible to take down. Each one of those things you noted are in fact a defensive speciality. most likely he was also blocking. My best experience to counter peopel with outrageous invuln builds like that are to use some sort of ego based hold on them. And then hope you can buy enough time to dmg them.

I would just ignore them since it is likely they aren't really threats offensively and just want to **** people off. Just shoot them with a taser arrow or something every now and then so they think something is up while focusing on a softer target. Use them for energy generation.

Invulnerable - Small hits don't hurt
Block - Big hits don't hurt
Mindful Rein - Damage Shield plus heal if dmg shield not dead
Chi - Self HoT
Bet he wasn't doing a whole lot in return though

Yeah they never do, about all those types of builds are good for is keeping the enemy occupied. Besides, Crippling strikes usually puts paid to that anyway.

yup lots of con/pres = no hold and kb resist
Snare/Hold/Stun + emote laugh + run away = win

uh right.
people with good defenses can do as much damage as those without. Nothing in this game except a small boost from an energy form prevents this.

Yea I dunno why people always say "lol he has invuln, his damage must suck!" The offensive passives aren't even that good--especially after the launch patch.
As for the OP: Mindful Reinforcement is really really really good. More people will start using it for sure.

I can cast MF absolutely non-stop if I go support role and throw an energy builder shot in occasionally as it has no cast time or cooldown. The only thing that gets me are hold and knockback chains. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it gets a cooldown somewhere down the road.
Don't forget the ego sprites advantage as well. It has no cooldown, a decent pbaoe range, and heals you passively even while held or whatever. As long as you make sure to set it off every minute, it's basically a regen that stacks on top of whatever other passive you have.

well, for me i stack:
-PFF
-Field Surge
-The healing clicky thing (munitions forgot the name)
-Invulnerable (the clicky 1)
when i time them right, I go right down the list and rarely take damage :D

Offensive passives are going to get better. They're being looked at.
Now bear in mind, I don't think anyone said that anyone with a defensive passive has very low damage. The idea was that people who -stack- as much defenses as they can have lower damage.
This much is true. If you fill a lot of power slots with defensive stuff, you do survive a lot better. Generally you also have to rank them up to be effective. This takes away from ranks in more damaging powers, and gives you a less variety of attack powers.
That's not to say every defensive build will have crappy damage, but your average person will tend to become a bit too focused in one aspect of their character and neglect the other. Certainly, compared to someone with a more powerful combination of attack powers that have been ranked up versus a defensive player with ranked defenses... Well, which do you think will have higher damage output?

Mindful reinforcement is spammable, but costs alot of energy, so they would need to either be building, or getiing energy from blocking to be able to maintain Mindful for a long time. But yes, its very good.

In the support role I can cast two off the bat using my equilibrium alone, and I haven't taken any talents with recovery in them. If I don't energy build, I can cast one about every second after that, even faster if I get a shot of energy build in occasionally. Keep in mind that you can switch roles without getting the 'switch builds' cooldown.
Currently the advantage is broken, but there is one where you get energy back for whenever a shield is shot down. I'd imagine it could get overboard pretty fast if they put that one back in.

we encoutnered the same problem, completely invincible team in front.. now if i had regen crits like before it wouldnt be a problem but now PVP pointless to me.
Those guys werent blocking either and still keep similar offense abilities.
I cant understand they enrfed so many abilities and leave something like that in.

we encoutnered the same problem, completely invincible team in front.. now if i had regen crits like before it wouldnt be a problem but now PVP pointless to me.

if they aren't blocking its probably PFF or some other damage shield...in this case if you're going to attack them at all then you need to finish the job by going their PFF and then their hitpoints ... otherwise its just a waste since their PFF will recharge
