View Full Version : Help me flesh out my Eldritch Archer

Usually I'm the slash and burn type but I've come up with an idea for an Eldritch Archer that should prove fun and be a good companion for my wife's dual blades character.
Basically its a smattering of Archery and Sorcery powers for a nice mix of both offensive and support skills.
I could use some ideas for the overall powerset but mainly I need help picking my superstats.

The default Archer stats are DEX/INT and while the INT seems useful DEX tends to be pretty worthless without EGO.
So I'm thinking I should change it to either CON/INT or DEX/EGO. I'm worried that without INT (or END or REC) I won't have enough energy to use a lot of my abilities so I'm leaning towards CON/INT for a bit of extra survivability.

The Sigal of Primal storm should work nicely with tazer arrow.
The Aura of Radiant protection should prove a nice feature when I want to play a bit more of the support role.

I know I could probably swap some powers with other frameworks but keep in mind that I tend to build my characters around concept and in this case i would like to primarily stick to Archery and Sorcery powers.

I'm not looking for an uber-build but I don't want to shoot myself int he foot by picking something that is completely gimped either.

So, anything here that's going to bite me in the ass?

With 37 people posting a "rate my build" thread every 5 minutes, don't be such a snark.

You've got two passives in the form of Quarry and Aura, is that intentional?

I like the idea of Taser Arrow+Aftershock & Sigil -- be curious if that works out as well as it looks on paper.

Yes, it's intentional but not necessarily set in stone. I was thinking Quarry for when playing solo or in a duo with the Aura being useful in a larger group since it also buffs team mates.

I'm still really undecided on what stats to focus on. Normally I would say DEX makes perfect sense for an archer but with the way the stats work in this game I'm not coming up with any reason to keep DEX unless I pair it with EGO which I'm afraid could leave me low on energy.
So I'm still kind of leaning towards CON/INT but am very much on the fence.

The other tough choice for me is Strafe or Eldritch bolt as the energy builder.

My Archer is Int/Dex superstats as the game suggests, and I boost Ego from gear. I have no endurance problems whatsoever. Archery isn't that bad on endurance. But in your case your mixing it with Sorcery so i'm not so sure.

The dodge bonus on Strafe IS nice, WHEN it procs but it doesn't happen as often as i'd like TBH. On the other hand I found that the Bindings of Aratron that procs off the Bolts doesn't seem to hold near as long as the real power either. So I probably didint' make that choice any easier. I'd say decide if you want to be more CC or more Evasive :p

Looks like you ronly real defense is the circle, which I had tried in beta. Makes sense. You're an archer, you dont 'have to move. Unfortunately I found the damage resistance of the cirlce to be mediocre at best, and it does NOT scale with ANY stat. Honeslty I tried to get it boosted to no avail. Its really rather stupid that a power that ROOTS you in one spot gives less of a defense bonus than one that is completely passive. Then again I guess theyr'e afraid of people stacking them.
