View Full Version : Built....Tough?

Thanks to the patch changes from the Sept 1 patch, I lost a lot of toughness in my main hero.

Now that I can manage a retcon, I'd like some help in increasing viability with soloable "brick/tank" build.

I'd like to stay away from overly flashy powers.

Now the general concept is a former British Special Air Service Officer, who gained superpowers after his wife was killed, inspired by a rampant lion icon in steel hanging on the whall he took the name "Steel Lion", he should come of a bit like a VERY tough Batman (admittedly with some superstrength) but I don't see him as having a lot of other powers. beyond his survivability and strength. However, I'm not adverse to taking anything you'd likely find a "Batman" type hero using. (So Smoke bombs are alright, but guns are right out.)

First off, you'll need to SS CON if you want to even pretend to be a tank.

As far as defensive passives, I'd say PFF and Defiance are horribly buggy, and regen is mostly for mage tanks. This leaves Lightning Reflexes and Invulnerability. LR is probibly the best overall passive as far as mitigation goes, so a DEX/CON build using LR might be a good way to go. Another option is inv, which would require you to go CON/STR. In the long view, I'd say inv. is the least likely to be significant;y changed, so that might be your best option. I see LR being nurfed in the near future. PFF will probably get buffed a bit, but the END / EGO requirement make me think it will never be a good power for a dedicated tank.

If wrist bolters fit your concept (and they are vaguely batman like) I say use that as your energy builder. Then choose Inv and Energy shield from PA. At level 8, pick Defensive Combo as your main attack. You can probably take it from there, but I would look into Nanobot Swarm, Mini Mines, Resurgence, unbreakable, and Iron Cyclone.

Wrist bolters are 'Batman like' ? Come on now folks. Those things are positively Spaaaaaace Ghooooooost! I love them for my own tank build.
