View Full Version : My PA / Force / Gadget Build (work in progress)

So far I've toyed with a few iterations of this character from OB to Early Start to Launch. Here's what I have so far. Let me know if you see something you think would work better (be gentle! ;P).
Principally I'm a solo PvE with light group PvE with guildies but I do enjoy an occasional PvP match to break things up (once to twice a week at most). Here we go!

*[X] denotes rank, {blah} denotes advantage description, I tend to forget their real name

Offense:
Wrist Bolters [1]
Power Gauntlet [3]
Laser Eyes [1]
Micro Munitions [1]

Defense:
Force Shield [2] {keeps blocking after shield released}
PFF [2]
Field Surge [2] {add dmg buff when activated}
Field Drones [2]
Electric Form [1]
Teleport [1]

Buffs:
Minituarization Drive [1] {Reciprocal Drive}

Innate/Supers/Talents
Gadgeteering's Innate for end/int, Super Int, Super End, +5 con/int, +5 con/end, +5 end/int, +5 rec/int, +5 con/rec, +5 end/rec [talents come out to +15 con, +15 int, +15 end, +15 rec]


What I like and don't like so far:
+Wrist Bolster "seems" to build up energy fast. It's probably at the same rate as anything else, but as long as I think it's faster then it's a psychological buff ;P
+Having to keep up a charged Power Gauntlet salvo while keeping an eye on the toggles is a small pain but worth it for the dmg and interrupt chance.
+I've always loved Micro Munitions, but MM with Mini-Drive/Reci-Drive is hilarious bliss. With the recent patch changes to powers, this debuff/buff has helped.
+Electric Form has not let me down at all. They changed the buff numbers I believe and it still seems to work well for me. Energy-Matter Union intrigues me, is it worth it?
-Laser Eyes feel like a disappointment now. They did so much damage for so little energy and I fully expected that to change. I figured cost would go way up, didn't think instead it'd be the dmg that would go down. With its old damage I tolerated its really long maintain (I'd forget it was running when trying to fire Miniguns or Shoulder Launcher after a Micro Munitions volley finished or it being the reason Wrist Bolters aren't firing or from being able to click an instant). Now it's more a nuisance that's clogging other powers.
-Getting rid of Field Drones, they're too busy A) ignoring me B) healing each other C) going back to ignoring me. Grabbing a self heal instead most likely.
-Chest Beam hits for so much damage but it's so expensive end-wise. Is it worth it?
-What happened to my PFF?! It seems to wipe out at the start of an exchange leaving me to hope that the Drones aren't too busy daydreaming. Defense nerf / mob buff I guess, but seriously blugh.
-More importantly, what happened to my Field Surge?! I pop it and instead of seeing 0 dmg over my head, the mobs are still rocking and rolling at my hp's. That's fishy. I want to keep it to for concept reasons, but I may have to re-evaluate if it stays that way.

What I want [suggestions/comments?]:
-The close range attack from Force with the dmg+ buff advantage to set up for Shoulder Launcher (and to add additional anti-melee defenses)
-Shoulder Launcher
-Minigun w/ Teflon Coated Rounds
-Ice Walls. I like the status protections it gives, and the rooting actually is a good thing for me (keeps me in the spot I cast the Force dmg buff without worrying about knockback). Mini-Drive and the Force's knockback and worst case scenario Teleport would keep melee from overwhelming me if it happened.
-A hold-type attack (to support Shoulder Launcher or teammates in pvp)
-Some sort of crowd control (maybe, last on the list of priorities)
